Liberty County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 91,628. The county seat is Liberty. It was founded in 1831, as a municipality in Mexico as Villa de la Santísima Trinidad de la Libertad by commissioner José Francisco Madero and organized as a county of the Republic of Texas in 1836. Its name was anglicized as Liberty based on the ideal of American liberty.

Sharpstown is a master-planned community in the Southwest Management District, Southwest Houston, Texas. It was one of the first communities to be built as a master-planned, automobile centered community and the first in Houston. Frank Sharp (1906–1993), the developer of the subdivision, made provisions not only for homes but also for schools, shopping and recreation areas. While this model has been duplicated countless times in the past fifty years, at the time it was quite revolutionary, attracting national media attention. The development was dedicated on March 13, 1955.

Anthony Devon Pleasant is an American former professional American football player and assistant coach. A 6'5", 280-lb. defensive end from Century, Florida and Tennessee State University, Pleasant was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 1990 NFL Draft. He played in 14 NFL seasons from 1990 to 2004 for the Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers, and New England Patriots. In his career, Pleasant appeared in 202 games and recorded 58.0 sacks with 2 interceptions.
China Grove is an unincorporated community in northwestern Brazoria County, Texas, United States. It is a part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area.
The 1972 Texas gubernatorial election was held on November 7, 1972, to elect the governor of Texas. Incumbent Democratic Governor Preston Smith ran for reelection, but lost renomination to businessman Dolph Briscoe. Smith was overwhelmingly rejected in the Democratic primary, taking fourth place with only 8% of the vote amid the fallout from the Sharpstown scandal. Briscoe went on to win the general election by a relatively small margin, winning 48% of the vote to Republican Henry Grover's 45%. Raza Unida candidate Ramsey Muniz won 6%.
Steamboat House is located at Sam Houston State University, in the city of Huntsville, county of Walker, in the U.S. state of Texas. Dr. Rufus W. Bailey built the house in 1858 as a wedding gift for his son, but the couple refused to live in it because of its unusual architecture, which caused the locals to give it the nickname "steamboat". It is the house where Sam Houston died July 26, 1863. Houston's funeral was held in the upstairs parlor. The house is part of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum complex.
