Ai Otsuka is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Suminoe-ku, Osaka, Japan. She is a popular artist on the Avex Trax label and is best known for her 2003 hit "Sakuranbo", which stayed in the Top 200 Oricon Weekly Singles Chart for 103 weeks.
"Sakuranbo" is Ai Otsuka's second single, which was released on December 17, 2003. It is often considered as Otsuka's breakthrough single and was used in 2004 as an ending theme song on the TV show, "Mecha Mecha iketerū! (めちゃ2イケてるッ!)," which Fuji TV produces.
Love Cook is Ai Otsuka's third album released on 14 December 2005 under the Avex Trax record label. It was released in four formats: CD only, CD+DVD, CD+Photobook and CD+Picture Book. The latter two are limited to 150,000 copies each, and feature different sleeve case covers. The picture book illustrations are hand-drawn by Ai herself.
Love Punch is the debut album by Ai Otsuka released on 31 March 2004 under the Avex Trax record label. This album was released in two formats: a CD Only version and a CD+DVD version. The CD+DVD edition comes with a DVD containing promo clips and interviews. Initial pressings contained a limited edition picture book. The album reached #3 on the Oricon charts and stayed on the charts for a total of 98 weeks. Because the album sold 519,300 copies in 2004, it became the #20 most popular album of 2004. However, it also charted on the 2005 end-of-year charts at #94 as it sold 159,025 copies in that year as well. In total, this album has sold 698,277 units.
"Planetarium" is Ai Otsuka's tenth single, which was released on 21 September 2005. The single had great success and became Otsuka's second #1 hit on the Oricon charts, selling 316,425 copies. In 2005, Planetarium sold 215,114 copies, making it the #41 best-selling single of the year. However, it still charted into the next year and was the #99 best-selling single in 2006, selling 100,555 copies. Planetarium is her second best-selling single after "Sakuranbo."
"Ren'ai Shashin" is the 13th single by Japanese singer Ai Otsuka, released on the Avex Trax label. It is also her third and final single released in 2006.
"Yumekui" is Ai Otsuka's 12th single under the avex trax label.
"Frienger" is Ai Otsuka's 11th single under the avex trax label and her first of three singles in 2006.
"Kingyo Hanabi" is Ai Otsuka's fifth single. It was released by avex trax on August 18, 2004. The DVD version was sold simultaneously. It became the theme song of the Japanese television program "Super TV". 50,000 limited edition copies were sold which included a picture book drawn by Otsuka. It reached number three on the Oricon charts.
"Chu-Lip" is Ai Otsuka's 14th single under the avex trax label. It is also her first single released in 2007.
"Love no Theme" is Ai Otsuka's first single under the avex trax label under her pen name Love. It is also her second single released in 2007.
"Daisuki da yo." is Ai Otsuka's sixth single, which was released on October 20, 2004 under the avex trax label. It peaked at number three on the Oricon chart in Japan.
"Kuroge Wagyu Joshio Tanyaki 680-en" is Ai Otsuka's seventh single. It was released on 9 February 2005, by Avex Trax. The title is roughly translated as "680 yen salty grilled black Japanese beef tongue."
"Smily / Biidama" is Ai Otsuka's eighth single, which was released on 11 May 2005. "Smily" was used in a television commercial for Lion's Ban Powder Spray, while "Biidama" is being used in a commercial for Shokubutsu Monogatari Herb Blend shampoo, also by Lion. Otsuka appears in both commercials.
"Rocket Sneaker / One × Time" is Ai Otsuka's 17th single released under the avex trax label. It is her first single released in 2008, on May 21.
"Kurage, Nagareboshi" is Japanese pop singer Ai Otsuka's 18th single, released on 10 September 2008. It will include a CD-only and CD + DVD format, as well as four different covers to celebrate her 5-year anniversary. There will be a 5th anniversary limited edition CD-only and CD + DVD version, as well as regular CD-only and CD + DVD versions. It is described as a "heartwarming ballad for the summer". The 5th anniversary covers pay homage to the covers of her debut single, "Momo no hanabira", whose release this single is meant to commemorate. Kurage, Nagareboshi is similar in style to "Kingyo Hanabi" and "Planetarium"; people often group the three songs together. It was used as the theme song for the TBS series, Koisuru Hanikami!.
Love Letter is the fifth studio album released by Ai Otsuka on 17 December 2008. It come in a CD-only format and CD + DVD format. Thirteen songs are included; four from her singles Pocket, Rocket Sneaker / One × Time and Kurage, Nagareboshi.
"Bye Bye" (バイバイ) is the 19th single from Japanese singer Ai Otsuka, and the fourth single to be released from her Love Letter album. It is her second re-cut single, and it will be the CM song for the Asahi Breweries LTD new low-alcohol beverage, Asahi Slat.
Heavenly Forest is a 2006 Japanese romance and drama film based on the novel Renai Shashin: Mō Hitotsu no Monogatari written by Takuji Ichikawa. It was also released as a manga. The film was directed by Takehiko Shinjo, and focuses on the relationship that evolves between a photographer named Makoto, and two of his female university classmates, Shizuru and Miyuki.
