Pohuwato is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. It is located on the northern (or Minahasa) peninsula of the island of Sulawesi. It was established on 25 February 2003 under Law Number (Undang-Undang Nomor) 6/2003 by splitting off from the western part of Boalemo Regency. It has an area of 4,244.31 km2, and had a population of 128,748 at the 2010 Census [2] and 146,432 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 160,187 (comprising 81,612 males and 78,575 females). [1] The seat of the regency administration is in the town of Marisa.
On 21 September 2023, Pohuwato regent office and Regional People's Representative Council building were burned by local miners. They demanded PT Pani Gold Project (PGP) or PT Puncak Emas Tani Sejahtera (PETS, a subsidiary of Merdeka Copper Gold [4] ) to return the ancestral land they worked on. Previously, the protesters have raided the company's office on the same day. [5] [6] The offices were later demolished on 4 December 2023. [7]
Pohuwato Regency is divided into thirteen districts (kecamatan), tabulated below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 Census [2] and the 2020 Census, [3] together with the official estimates as at mid 2023. [1] The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages in each district (totaling 101 rural desa and 3 urban kelurahan - the latter all in Paguat District), and its postal codes.

Bulungan Regency is a regency of North Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 13,181.92 km2 and had a population of 112,663 at the 2010 Census and 151,844 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 165,775. The administrative centre is at Tanjung Selor.
Maumere is the administrative seat of the Sikka Regency and the second largest town on Flores Island, Indonesia. It lies on the north coast of the island and the port is in the north-west part of the town. Administratively the town is not a single district (kecamatan) within the regency, but is divided into three districts – Alok Barat, Alok and Alok Timur – although the latter two districts also include a number of substantial islands off the north coast of Flores.
Indragiri Hulu is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of Riau, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Sumatra. Buol Regency is a regency of Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It was created on 4 October 1999, having previously been the eastern half of a larger Buol Tolitoli Regency. It covers an area of 4,043.57 km2, and had a population of 132,330 at the 2010 Census; and 145,254 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 150,524. The administrative centre is the town of Buol, in Biau District.
The Karimun Regency is located in the Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. Besides the central island of Great Karimun, the regency also includes the island of Kundur and over 240 lesser islands. The district covers a land area of 1,339.9 km2 and a sea area of 6,460 km2, and its population was 212,561 at the 2010 census and 253,457 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 270,121.
Boalemo is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. It is located on the northern peninsula of the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 1999 under Law Number 50/1999. It has an area of 1,830.87 km2, and had a population of 129,253 at the 2010 Census and 145,868 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 151,337. The seat of the regency administration is the town of Tilamuta.
Bone Bolango is a regency of Gorontalo Province, Indonesia, on the island of Sulawesi. It was established in 2003 under Law Number 6/2003 from the former eastern districts of Gorontalo Regency. It has an area of 1,915.44 km2 and had a population of 141,915 at the 2010 Census and 162,778 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 172,301. The administrative centre of the regency is the town of Suwawa.
Central Bangka Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,155.77 km2 and had a population of 161,075 at the 2010 Census, rising to 198,946 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 205,510 - comprising 106,340 males and 99,170 females. The town of Koba is its regency seat.
Rote Ndao Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, consisting primarily of the island of Rote, situated south-west of the western tip of West Timor with an area of 978.54 km2, together with minor offshore islands including Usu (19.4 km2), Ndana (13.83 km2), Ndao, Landu and Nuse; the total area including the minor offshore islands is 1,249.35 km2. The regency seat is in the village of Ba'a, which is situated in Lobalain District. The population of the Regency was 119,908 as of the 2010 census and 143,764 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 150,647.
Sitaro Islands Regency is a regency located off the northern extremity of Sulawesi Island in the southern Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The regency was formed under Law Number 15 Year 2007 from 2 January 2007, by separation from the Sangihe Islands Regency of which it had previously formed the southern part. The short form of the name is formed from one syllable from each of the names of the three principal islands — Siau, Tagulandang and Biaro.
Paser Regency is the southernmost regency (kabupaten) within the East Kalimantan province of Indonesia. It was created in 1959, originally spelt "Pasir Regency", but renamed "Paser" in 2007; however its northeastern districts were split off on 10 April 2002 to form the new Penajam North Paser Regency. The residual regency covers an area of 11,603.94 km2, and it had a population of 230,316 at the 2010 Census and 275,452 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid-2023 was 303,424. Its administrative centre is the town of Tana Paser.
Bombana Regency is a regency of Southeast Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It consists of part of the southeast peninsula of Sulawesi, together with most of the substantial offshore island of Kabaena to the south. The regency was created on 18 December 2003 from part of Buton Regency. It covers an area of 3,293.97 km2, and had a population on 139,235 at the 2010 Census and 150,706 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 163,402 - comprising 82,602 males and 80,800 females. The administrative centre lies at the town of Rumbia.
Buton Regency is a regency of Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi Province, lying entirely on Buton Island. Until 2014 it had an area of 2,681.22 km2, and a population estimated at 276,944. However, in 2014 it was divided into three regencies, with two new regencies being cut out of it; the residual area now is 1,647.87 km2, and the districts in that area contained a population of 94,388 at the 2010 Census while the 2020 Census produced a total of 115,207; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 120,873 The capital is nominally at Pasarwajo, but the regency's administration is actually undertaken in the city of Baubau on the south-west of the island, although that city is administratively separate from the Regency.
North Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its capital is Airmadidi. It was originally part of the Minahasa Regency until it was split off and established as a separate regency on 20 November 2003. It covers an area of 1,059.24 km2, and had a population of 188,904 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 224,993 at the 2020 Census, and the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 231,791. The Regency includes the offshore islands of Bangka and Talisei to the north of Sulawesi, and Mantenang and Naeng Besar to the northwest.
South Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Its capital is the town of Amurang. It was originally part of the Minahasa Regency until it was established as a separate regency on 25 February 2003. In turn, nearly four years later, a new Southeast Minahasa Regency was established as a separate regency from part of the South Minahasa Regency on 2 January 2007. The residual Regency now covers an area of 1,456.74 km2, and had a population of 195,553 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 236,463 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 244,590.
Southeast Minahasa Regency is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It covers a land area of 730.63 km2, and had a population of 100,443 at the 2010 Census; this had risen to 116,323 at the 2020 Census, and the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 118,946. It was established as a separate regency from the south-eastern part of the South Minahasa Regency on 2 January 2007. Its administrative centre is at the town of Ratahan.
North Morowali Regency is a regency in the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The regency was established on 12 April 2013, partitioned from the northwestern districts of Morowali Regency. It covers an area of 10,004.28 km2 and the component districts which were then in Morowali Regency had a combined population of 104,094 at the 2010 Census. The new regency had 120,789 inhabitants at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 126,049. The principal town lies at Kolonodale.
West Muna Regency is a regency of Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. It comprises the northwest portion of Muna Island and islands in the Straits of Tiworo. It was established under Act No.14 of 2014, dated 23 July 2014 by separation from the Muna Regency. It covers an area of 906.28 km2, and reported a population of 71,632 at the 2010 Census; the 2020 Census recorded a population of 84,590, and the official estimate as of mid-2022 was 85,706, comprising 42,242 males and 43,464 females. Its administrative centre is Laworo in the Tiworo Islands District.
Central Buton Regency is a new regency of Southeast Sulawesi established by separation from Buton Regency under Act No.15 of 2014, dated 23 July 2014. It covers an area of 837.16 km2 comprising the southern parts of Muna Island and Kabaena Island, together with several small offshore islands adjacent to these two main islands, but with no territory located on Buton Island. It had a population of 86,112 at the 2010 Census and 114,773 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 121,369. The administrative centre lies at Labungkari in Lakudo District.
South Buton Regency is a regency located on Buton Island in Southeast Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. This regency was formed from the southern part of Buton Regency, from which it was separated by Act No.16 of 2014, dated 23 July 2014. It covers an area of 546.58 km2, and the population of the districts now comprising the new regency was 74,974 at the 2010 Census and 95,261 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 101,635. The regency capital is located in Batauga.
