Polish-Emirati relations are foreign relations between the Republic of Poland and the United Arab Emirates. Poland has an embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the United Arab Emirates has its counterpart in Warsaw.
Following the success of Solidarity movement, Poland established relations with the Emirates in 1989. [1] The UAE has become Poland's key partner in the Arab world in the context of political dialogue and economic cooperation ever since. [1]
Since establishment of relations in 1989, the United Arab Emirates have emerged to become Poland's largest trade partner in the Arab World. The promotion of Polish interests in UAE involves Polish Trade Office based in Dubai, the National Chamber of Commerce and the Polish Tourist Organization, Credit Insurance, Bonds and Financing Public Company, which supports the activities of Polish exporters on the local market, providing insurance services to Polish entrepreneurs. Polish Business Group was established in March 2006 under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a communication platform between the representations of the governments of Poland and the UAE. [1] Polish Investment and Trade Agency has also been active on promoting the relations. [2]
In 2015, an Emirati delegation headed to Warsaw to discuss on upgrading the strong tie between two countries. [3] [4] The United Arab Emirates is keen to increase the cooperation with Poland. [5]
In November 2019, the United Arab Emirates and Poland reviewed cooperation prospects and bilateral partnerships in Sharjah with the aim to elevate the status and encouraged Polish business people to do its works in the country. [6] A month later, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of Federal Transport Authority (FTA) – Land and Maritime, met with Marek Gróbarczyk, Polish Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation to discuss opening free maritime and land transportation and links. In May 2015, the UAE and the European Union, which Poland is a member, had signed a reciprocal bilateral short-stay visa waiver agreement exempting Emirati citizens from Schengen visa regime and making the UAE the first Arab country to receive such a visa waiver for its nationals. Since May 7, 2015, UAE citizens who hold diplomatic, special, service and ordinary passports are able to travel without a visa to Poland and other EU countries which make up the Schengen area for stays of up to 90 days (within any 180-day period of one year). Both Dubai based Airlines (Emirates and flydubai) offer its passengers direct daily services to Poland. [1]
In July 2019, the United Arab Emirates participated in 27th International Defence Industry Exhibition in Poland. [8]
Since 2014, Poland and the United Arab Emirates have increased cooperation in the educational front. In 2014, Polish Ambassador Adam Krzymowski visited Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, where he discussed educational exchanges between Polish and Emirati universities. [9] The same year, Polish Ministry of Science launched the Arabic language version of the www.go-poland.pl website. [4]
The United Arab Emirates actively sent a delegation to participate in the February 2019 Warsaw Conference organized by the United States and host Poland to counter Iranian threat. [10]
2,000 Poles live in UAE, the largest Polish population in the Arab World. [11]
The diplomatic foreign relations of the United Arab Emirates are conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The United Arab Emirates has quite a close and friendly relationship with the US, being described as the United States' best counter-terrorism ally in the Gulf by Richard A. Clarke, the U.S. national security advisor and counter-terrorism expert. In terms of defense, the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces has been nicknamed "Little Sparta" by United States Armed Forces generals and former U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis for its active role against extremists in the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates also hosts the only United States border preclearance in the Middle East.
The relationship between the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stretches back to December 1971, when the Soviet Union and UAE broke off diplomatic relations. Relations between the two countries have been described as tense and a "somewhat strategic partnership", with the countries cooperating closely in Iraq, Egypt and Libya.
Israel–United Arab Emirates relations had been jagged and fueled by mutual distrust and hatred for several decades, but in the 2010s, the countries' informal relations improved considerably and they began engaging in extensive unofficial cooperation based on their joint opposition to Iran's nuclear program and regional influence. In 2015, Israel opened an official diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi to the International Renewable Energy Agency.
Canada—United Arab Emirates relations is used to describe the relations between the nations of Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Canada established relations with the United Arab Emirates in 1974. Each maintains an embassy in the other's capital.
Turkey and the United Arab Emirates share extensive cultural, military and economic ties, but relations have substantially deteriorated since Arab Spring, however, relations did start to recover in recent years.
France–United Arab Emirates relations are the foreign relations between France and the United Arab Emirates.
India–United Arab Emirates relations are the bilateral relations that exist between the Republic of India and the United Arab Emirates. They are both in I2U2 Group. Indians also make up the largest ethnic group in the UAE, making up roughly 38% of UAE's total residents. India is UAE's largest exports destination & trading partner with bilateral trade turnover of US$ 68.4 billion during the calendar year 2021. UAE's exports to India stood at US$ 43.04 billion while India's exports to UAE stood at US$ 25.4 billion. In 2022 India & UAE signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with an aim of taking bilateral trade to US$ 100 billion within 5 years.
China – United Arab Emirates relations refer to the diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates. Diplomatic ties were first established in 1984. The UAE maintains an embassy in Beijing and a consulate-general in Hong Kong while China has an embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate-general in Dubai. The UAE and China have been strong international allies, with significant cooperation across economic, political and cultural aspects.
Bilateral ties exist between Australia and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE maintains an embassy in Canberra whilst Australia has an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate-general in Dubai.
The United Arab Emirates has an embassy in Amman, and Jordan maintains an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate-general in Dubai. Both countries are part of the Middle East region and share close cultural ties. Most notably, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein of Dubai is of Jordanian origin.
Syria–United Arab Emirates relations refer to the relationship between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Syrian Arab Republic. The UAE has an embassy in Damascus and Syria has an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate-general in Dubai. Both countries are members of the Arab League, part of the Middle East region and share close cultural ties.
The United Arab Emirates and Germany established relations in May 1972. The U.A.E. has an embassy in Berlin and consulate-general in Munich while Germany maintains an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate-general in Dubai. German exports amount to 5.84 billion Euros. German companies significantly contribute to the UAE's ongoing infrastructure projects and play a leading role in the country's alternative energy developments. Consequently, German Business Park, an area designed to house several of the already seven hundred present companies and their logistical needs, is in the midst of construction. There are thousands of expatriate Germans in the United Arab Emirates who have helped maintain connections between the two countries.
Somalia–United Arab Emirates relations are bilateral relations between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Both nations are Arab League members and engage in close development cooperation. Somalia also has an embassy in Abu Dhabi, and the UAE maintains an embassy in Mogadishu.
Philippines–United Arab Emirates relations are the bilateral relations of the Republic of the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
The Embassy of Canada to the United Arab Emirates is Canada's diplomatic mission to the United Arab Emirates. The embassy is located on the 9th and 10th floors of the West Tower of the Abu Dhabi Trade Center, next to Abu Dhabi Mall.
Mexico–United Arab Emirates relations are the diplomatic relations between Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. Both nations are members of the United Nations.
Tanzania–United Arab Emirates relations are the diplomatic relations between Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE is one of Tanzania's largest trading partner and have had cordial relationship for many years.
Armenia–United Arab Emirates relations are the diplomatic relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates. Official relations exist between both nations since 1998. Armenia has an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a consulate in Dubai. The United Arab Emirates has embassy in Yerevan.
International relations exist between the nations of North Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates. North Macedonia has an embassy in Abu Dhabi. United Arab Emirates has a non-resident embassy in Rome.
