Sathyapriya Bhavani Shankar (born 31 December 1989) is an Indian actress, and a former television-presenter who primarily works in Tamil and Telugu films. [3] [4] [5] She made her acting debut with commercially successful Tamil film Meyaadha Maan (2017).

Career

Priya is from a Tamil speaking family. First she gained recognition as a television news presenter at the Tamil news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai. [6] She also worked as a serial actress in Star Vijay Television's Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai . [3] In 2017, she made her film debut with Meyaadha Maan opposite Vaibhav, for which she was nominated for a SIIMA Award for Best Female Debutant. [7]

The following year, Priya appeared in Kadaikutty Singam alongside Karthi. [8] In 2019, she starred in Monster alongside S. J. Suryah. [9] In 2020 she was seen in the action thriller Mafia: Chapter 1 alongside Arun Vijay. [10] She also appeared in the Amazon Prime web series Time Enna Boss!? . [11] In 2021, she starred in the multi-starrer Kalathil Sandhippom and Kasada Thapara .

She has later appeared in successful films such as Yaanai (2022), Thiruchitrambalam (2022), Pathu Thala (2023) and Demonte Colony 2 (2024). In 2024, she also played the lead opposite Satyadev in Zebra . Srivathsan Nadadhur of The Hindu noted, "Priya finally has a substantial role in a Telugu film and does well." [12] [13]

    Meyaadha Maan is the soundtrack album jointly composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Pradeep Kumar for the 2017 film of the same name directed by Rathna Kumar. The album had seven tracks written by Vivek, Pradeep Kumar, Rathna Kumar and Mirchi Vijay. Prior to the album release, three songs – "Thangachi Song", "Enna Naan Seiven" and "Address Song" released as singles on 7, 25 August and 13 September, and the full album was unveiled on 27 September 2017, to positive reviews from critics and audience. Post-release, the tracks "Address Song" and "Thangachi Song" gained popularity.

    Hostel is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language comedy horror film directed by Sumanth Radhakrishnan and produced by Trident Arts. The film is a remake of the 2015 Malayalam film Adi Kapyare Kootamani co-written and directed by John Varghese. The film stars Ashok Selvan and Priya Bhavani Shankar with a supporting cast including Sathish, Nassar and Munishkanth. The film's music is composed by Bobo Shashi, with cinematography handled by Praveen Kumar and editing done by Ragul. The film was released in theatres on 28 April 2022.

    Thiruchitrambalam is the soundtrack album to the 2022 film of the same name directed by Mithran R. Jawahar and produced by Sun Pictures. Starring Dhanush, Nithya Menen, Raashii Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bharathiraja and Prakash Raj, the film's musical score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and featured five songs, with four of them were released as singles prior to the album and film release, and the fifth track was later unveiled as a bonus song from the film. One of the songs in the film were written by Vivek, while Dhanush wrote the remainder of it and also sung for three tracks. Anirudh and composer Santhosh Narayanan recorded one song each for the album.

    Eashvar Karthic is an Indian film director and actor who primarily works in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He made his directorial debut in Tamil with the mystery-thriller film Penguin (2020).

    <i>Black</i> (2024 film) 2024 Indian Tamil-language film

    Black is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language science fiction horror film directed by KG Balasubramani and produced by Potential Studios. The film stars Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles, alongside Vivek Prasanna, Yog Japee and Swayam Siddha. It is an adaptation of the 2013 American film Coherence, directed by James Ward Byrkit. The film follows newlyweds Vasanth and Aranya who goes on a vacation but realize they are stuck in a black hole which changes timeline each time they pass it.
