The Edison Awards is an annual awards ceremony since 2009 for people in the Tamil film industry. It is named after the inventor of motion pictures, Sir Thomas Alva Edison. [1] It reaches seven countries with Tamil language television, with the main broadcaster Astro in Malaysia.

Contents

The event is mainly organised by its founder J.Selva Kumar [2] [3] and hosted by MyTamilMovie.com. The main sponsors in recent years have been Jet Airways and Videocon.

The show is augmented by talent search analysis, live concerts by professional Tamil playback singers and young emergers and dancers. The awards are given based on People's Choice conceptual, implemented with online voting, SMS voting, and Dial-a-Vote. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

<i>Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa</i> 2010 film by Gautham Menon

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Silambarasan and Trisha. Jointly produced by Elred Kumar, Jayaraman, VTV Ganesh and P. Madan under the banner Escape Artists Motion Pictures and RS Infotainment, the film was distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The story was simultaneously shot in Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave, starring Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, however, with a different cast.

TheVijay Awards are presented by the Tamil television channel STAR Vijay to honour excellence in Tamil cinema. It has been given annually since 2006, with the latest—the 10th edition—of the award-giving ceremony having been held in May 2018. The awards are decided by a jury, consisting of noted film-makers, critics and technicians, while winners in a separate category named "Favourite awards" are chosen by public voting. The awards have been sponsored by Reliance Mobile, Univercell and Close Up. After the last ceremony was the 10th Vijay Awards in 2018, the Vijay Awards were cancelled due to past controversies and waning public interest.

The 5th Vijay Awards ceremony honoring the winners and nominees of the best of Tamil film industry in 2010 was held on 25 June 2011 in Chennai.

3 is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language romantic psychological thriller film written and directed by Aishwarya R. Dhanush, the Ex wife of the actor Dhanush, who also produced the film, thus making their debut in both the fields. He also played the male lead role alongside Shruti Haasan, whilst Sivakarthikeyan and Sunder Ramu appear in prominent roles. The film follows Ram (Dhanush) and Janani, two intermediate sweethearts who eventually get married. However, Janani is mystified when Ram commits suicide all of a sudden and she tries to find out the truth behind his death.

Asiavision Awards have been held annually since 2006 to honor the artistes and technicians of Indian cinema and television & is organized under the leadership of renowned journalist Nissar Syed.

'96 is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by C. Prem Kumar in his directorial debut. Produced by S. Nanthagopal of Madras Enterprises, the film was distributed by Lalit Kumar under his banner Seven Screen Studio. Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the prominent roles as Ram and Jaanu, while newcomers Gouri G. Kishan and Aadithya Bhaskar played the younger version. The film also stars with an ensemble cast includes Bagavathi Perumal, Devadarshini, Aadukalam Murugadoss and others. The film revolves around the reunion of former students from the batch of 1996, twenty-two years after their graduation. The reunion also serves as an opportunity for two former lovers, Ram and Jaanu, to resolve issues surrounding their breakup.
