Priyanka Goswami (born 10 March 1996) is an Indian athlete who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk. [1] [2] She represented India at the Tokyo Olympics, finishing in 17th position. [3] [4] She won the silver medal in 10000 meters walk at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. [5] [6] She is first Indian woman to win a medal in race walk with a silver in 10,000m event. [7] She qualified for the Paris Olympics by meeting the mark at the Indian Open National Race walking competition in Ranchi on 14 February 2023. [8]

Biography

Goswami practised gymnastics at school for a few months before switching to athletics. She was attracted to running because of the prize bags available to successful competitors. [9]

In February 2021, she won the Indian Racewalking Championship in the 20 km race, with a new Indian record of 1:28.45, and qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. [2] [10] She previously won the Indian Racewalking championship in 2017. [1]

She works as an OS for Indian Railways. [9]

She participated in the 2013 World Championships in the 20 km walk category. She clocked 1:34:28 and finished 39th. At the 2014 Asian walking championships in Japan, she came second with a timing of 1:33:07 and bettered her own national record of 1:33:37. In the same year, she became the first Indian woman to win a silver at the Asian Games. She received the Arjuna Award in 2017 after her consecutive victories in International sports events.

Érica Rocha de Sena is a female racewalker from Brazil. In the 20 km walk, she took 4th place at the 2017 World Championships, and 7th place at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She is the only Brazilian to win a medal at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships, after inheriting the 20 km race bronze in the 2016 race, held in Rome.
