The 2023 Asian Athletics Championships is the 25 th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships. It was held from 12 to 16 July 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. [1] [2] It is the first time that Thailand hosted this event since 1973. Held at the Supachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok, it also serves as a qualification stage for athletes to participate at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. The previous edition that should have been held in Hangzhou, China, in May 2021 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[ citation needed ]

The 24th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships was held at Supachalasai National Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand. [3]

The 7th Asian Games were held from 1 to 16 September 1974 in Tehran, Iran. The Aryamehr Sports Complex was built for the Games. The Asian Games were hosted in the Middle East for the first time. The 1998 Asian Games, officially known as the 13th Asian Games and the XIII Asiad, was an Asian multi-sport event celebrated in Bangkok, Thailand from December 6 to 20, 1998, with 377 events in 36 sports and disciplines participated by 6,554 athletes across the continent. The football event commenced on 30 November 1998, a week earlier than the opening ceremony.

The 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship was held from 10 to 27 November 2004. It was the second edition of the youth tournament for women put together by FIFA, before being renamed FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship for the 2006 edition. The tournament was hosted by Thailand, in two stadiums in Bangkok, one in Chiang Mai and another in Phuket. This was the first FIFA women's tournament held in Southeast Asia.

The Fourth Asian Beach Games were held in Phuket Island, Phuket province, Thailand. The games were originally scheduled for Boracay Island, Aklan, Philippines, but was affected by the OCA's hosting changes.

The 2008 AFF Championship was the seventh edition of the tournament. It was primarily sponsored by Suzuki and therefore officially known as the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup. The group stage was held in Indonesia and Thailand from 5 to 10 December 2008. Two-legged home-and-away semi-finals and finals were held between 16 and 28 December 2008 in Singapore and Vietnam.

The AFC U-16 Women's Championship 2009 was the 3rd instance of the AFC U-16 Women's Championship. It was held from 4 to 15 November 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The top 3 teams qualified for 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Sports in Thailand play a significant role in Thai culture, with both participants and spectators engaging in a wide variety of activities. Muay Thai, a traditional martial art, is deeply ingrained in Thai history and has evolved into national sport. Aside from muay Thai, association football is the most popular sport in Thailand, followed by volleyball and badminton. There is also a diverse range of sports that are also popular throughout the country, including tennis, golf, swimming, athletics, cycling, motorsports, snooker, and sepak takraw, which is one of Thailand's two national sports along with muay Thai. Water sports such as scuba diving, kiteboarding, jet skiing, surfboarding, rafting, sea kayaking, windsurfing, wakeboarding, long boat racing, and long-tail boat racing are also popular among sports tourists and locals alike.

The 2012 AFF Championship, sponsored by Suzuki and officially known as the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup, was the 9th edition of the AFF Championship, the football championship of Southeast Asia. It was co-hosted for group stage by Malaysia and Thailand and took place from 24 November to 22 December 2012.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2015 IPC Athletics World Championships</span> Paralympic track and field event

The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon.

The 2017 Asian Athletics Championships was the 22nd edition of the Asian Athletics Championships. It was held from 6 to 9 July 2017 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India. Bhubaneswar was the third Indian city to host Asian Championships. Around 560 athletes from 41 countries attended the event.

The 2024 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, officially known as the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and also known as Bangkok–Chonburi 2024, is an upcoming pan-Asian multi-sport event in indoor and martial arts sports held from 21 to 30 November 2024 in Thailand, with its capital Bangkok and the eastern Thai province of Chonburi serving as joint co-hosts.

Aishwarya Kailash Mishra is an Indian athlete from Maharashtra. She competes in 400m. She is named in the Indian athletics team for the 400m event as a reserve athlete for the relay team event for the 2022 Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. She was part of the women's 4 × 400 m relay Indian team that won silver along with Vithya Ramraj, Subha Venkatesan and Prachi Choudhary at the 2022 Asian Games.
