The journal was established in 1956 and first published by the University of Mysore, with Bangalore Kuppuswamy as editor. [4] : 1  [5] It was published twice per year through 1987. [6]

Beginning in July, 1978, Psychological Studies was published through the University of Calicut, with M. A. Faroqi as editor. [4] : 1  [6] From 1988 through 2003, the journal was published triannually. [6] In 1990, a UNESCO publication described Psychological Studies as important among Indian psychology journals published by university departments. [7] : 114  In 1991, among journals operated by Indian psychologists to publish their research, Psychological Studies was noted as important. [8] : 486 

In 2000, the journal became the official journal of the National Academy of Psychology (India), [4] : 1  [9] which served as its publisher from 2004 to 2008. [6] In 2002, Psychological Studies was one of four Indian psychology journals (out of 44 total) described as having international standards. [10] : 101  Beginning in 2004, the journal began to be published quarterly. [6] Starting in 2009, Psychological Studies is published by Springer India. [11]

The journal is abstracted and indexed in the Indian Citation Index, [12] Scopus, [13] PsycINFO, [14] and ProQuest databases.

Psychosis: Psychological, Social and Integrative Approaches is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal published by Routledge covering research on the psychological treatments of psychosis and the psycho-social causes of psychosis. It is an official journal of the International Society for the Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis and was established in 2009. The editor-in-chief is John Read. Girishwar Misra is a social scientist, psychologist and author from India. He obtained an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Gorakhpur University. He started his career as lecturer in psychology at Lecturer, Gorakhpur University in 1970. Thereafter he remained Reader at Allahabad University (1979-1983), Professor, Bhopal University (1983-1993), before joining as Professor, Delhi University in 1993, where he served for the rest of his career.

Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal published by the American Psychological Association. It was established in 2007 as the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, and obtained its current name in January 2014. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Psychology is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal established in 2015. It is published by the American Psychological Association. The editor-in-chief is Dana S. Dunn.

Indian psychology refers to an emerging scholarly and scientific subfield of psychology. Psychologists working in this field are retrieving the psychological ideas embedded in indigenous Indian religious and spiritual traditions and philosophies, and expressing these ideas in psychological terms that permit further psychological research and application. 'Indian psychology' in this sense does not mean 'the psychology of the Indian people', or 'psychology as taught at Indian universities'. The Indian Psychology Movement refers to psychologists encouraging or carrying out the recently expanded activity in this field.
