"Put Him Out of Your Mind" is a song by the band Dr. Feelgood. The track was recorded in 1979, [1] and appeared on Let It Roll, an album by Dr. Feelgood that was released in September that year. [1]

"Put Him Out of Your Mind" was also released as a single in the UK in August 1979, a month prior to the album's issue. Written by band member Gypie Mayo and the record producer Mike Vernon, [2] the song was Dr. Feelgood's sixth and final hit single. [3] It reached number 73 in the UK Singles Chart, and spent just one week in the listing. [3]

The B-side of the gramophone record was "Bend Your Ear"; penned by Mayo and the band's lead vocalist, Lee Brilleaux (now deceased). [2] The joint recording was engineered by Dick Plant and John McGowan at the DJM Studios. [4] The picture sleeve shown is of the German release, which was the only issue with a picture sleeve. [5]

In addition to Let It Roll, the song later appeared on Dr. Feelgood's 1989 compilation album, Singles - The UA Years. [1]

Dr. Feelgood are an English pub rock band formed in 1971. Hailing from Canvey Island, Essex, the group are best known for early singles such as "She Does It Right", "Roxette", "Back in the Night" and "Milk and Alcohol". The group's original distinctively British R&B sound was centred on Wilko Johnson's choppy guitar style. Along with Johnson, the original band line-up included singer Lee Brilleaux and the rhythm section of John B. Sparks, known as "Sparko", on bass guitar and John Martin, known as "The Big Figure", on drums. Although their most commercially productive years were the early to mid-1970s, and in spite of Brilleaux's death in 1994 of lymphoma, a version of the band continues to tour and record to this day.

Do It Yourself is a 1979 album by Ian Dury & the Blockheads. It was the first album to be credited to Ian Dury & the Blockheads rather than Ian Dury alone, although Dury had used the full band name for the "What a Waste" 7" single of 1978. The album was released in the wake of the chart-topping hit single "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick", and reached number two in the charts, behind ABBA's Voulez-Vous. Do It Yourself sold around 200,000 copies, and was Dury's second Platinum album.

Gypie Mayo was an English guitarist and songwriter, playing in Dr. Feelgood from 1977 to 1981, and from 1996 to 2004 in the reborn Yardbirds with Alan Glen.

"Let's Have a Party" is a 1957 song written by Jessie Mae Robinson and recorded by Elvis Presley for the movie Loving You. It was released as a single in the United Kingdom under the title "Party" and peaked at #2 in the UK Singles Chart. Wanda Jackson recorded the song for her first album, Wanda Jackson, released in 1958. The song was released as a single by Jackson in 1960 and entered the UK chart on 1 September of that year, spending eight weeks there and reaching #32; it also reached #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960. The Jackson version was later featured in the 1989 film Dead Poets Society. Paul McCartney also recorded and released the song on his 1999 Run Devil Run album. His original song "Run Devil Run", on the album of the same name, also has a similar melody. A cover of "Let's Have a Party" by Sonia was included on the 2010 remastered edition of her 1989 album Everybody Knows.
