Radford University is a public university in Radford, Virginia, United States. It is one of the state's eight doctorate-granting public universities. Founded in 1910, Radford offers curricula for undergraduates in more than 100 fields, graduate programs including the M.F.A., M.B.A., M.A., M.S., Ed.S., Psy.D., M.S.W., and specialized doctoral programs in health-related professions. It is classified among "Doctoral/Professional Universities".
Milligan University is a private Christian university in Milligan College, Tennessee. Founded in 1866 as the Buffalo Male and Female Institute, and known as Milligan College from 1881 to May 2020, the school has a student population of more than 1,300 students, most of whom reside and study on its 355-acre (1.44 km2) campus. Milligan University is historically related to the Restoration Movement. The university offers over 100 programs of study leading to both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
The Rice Owls are the sports teams representing Houston's Rice University in college sports. The name comes from the owls in Rice's crest. Rice participates in NCAA Division I athletics. A member of the American Athletic Conference, Rice sponsors teams in eight men's and eight women's NCAA-sanctioned sports. Rice was a member of the Southwest Conference until its breakup in 1996. Rice then joined the Western Athletic Conference and Conference USA, until joining the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023. The women's swimming team moved to The American in 2022 after CUSA dropped women's swimming & diving. Rice is the fifth-smallest school competing in NCAA Division I FBS football measured by undergraduate enrollment, just above the University of Tulsa's 2,756 and the three FBS United States service academies's approximate 4,500. Rice's rivals include the cross-town Houston Cougars.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, United States. The team is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. Arkansas State's first baseball team was fielded in 1925. They participated in the first Division II baseball tournament in 1968.The team plays its home games at Tomlinson Stadium–Kell Field in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The Red Wolves are coached by Mike Silva.
The Radford Highlanders Men's Soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Radford University, located in Radford, Virginia. The team is a member of the Big South Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The team was founded in 1975 as the result of the combined efforts of student-activist G. Thomas Lillard, University President Donald Dedmon, and Athletic Director Charles (Chuck) Taylor.
The Saint Peter's Peacocks baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. The team is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Peacocks are coached by head coach Grant Neary. Saint Peter's has never made the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Their best chance came in 1994, when they won the MAAC tournament. At the time, certain tournament winners were not given a NCAA bid automatically, and thus Saint Peter's was tasked to play Atlantic 10 member West Virginia in a "NCAA Play-In Series". They lost 8-2 and 8-3 while the Mountaineers went to the NCAA tournament.
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, United States. The team is a member of the Southland Conference (SLC), which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The team plays its home games at Jaycees Field in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Lumberjacks are coached by Matt Vanderburg. The team played in the SLC from 1988 to 1995 before discontinuing baseball until its return in 2006. They left the SLC in 2021 for the Western Athletic Conference. On July 1, 2024, SFA returned to the SLC.
Tajama Abraham Ngongba is a former professional basketball player in the Women's National Basketball Association. Abraham attended George Washington University and was the 31st draft pick in the 1997 WNBA draft. She played for Sacramento Monarchs in 1997 and Detroit Shock in 1998. Abraham took a position as the women's Assistant Coach of basketball at George Mason University in 2013.

The season progressed through the regular season and concluded with the 1985 College World Series. The College World Series, held for the thirty-ninth time in 1985, consisted of one team from each of eight regional competitions and was held in Omaha, Nebraska, at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium as a double-elimination tournament. Miami (FL) claimed the championship for the second time.

Joseph James Raccuia is an American college baseball coach and former player. Raccuia played college baseball at Edison Community College from 1992 to 1993 before transferring to Radford University where he played in 1994 and 1996. Raccuia was the head coach of Radford from 2008 to 2019.
The 2018 Big South Conference women's soccer tournament was the postseason women's soccer tournament for the Big South Conference held from October 27 through November 4, 2018. The quarterfinals of the tournament were held at campus sites, while the semifinals and final took place at Sportsplex at Matthews in Matthews, North Carolina. The eight-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The High Point Panthers were the defending champions, but they were eliminated from the 2018 tournament with a 2–0 quarterfinal loss to the Radford Highlanders. The Radford Highlanders won the tournament with a 1–0 win over Gardner–Webb in the final. The conference tournament title was the sixth for the Radford women's soccer program and the sixth for head coach Ben Sohrabi.
The 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began February 15, 2019. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2019 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 26, 2019. The Vanderbilt Commodores won the tournament, and were consequently named national champions.
