Rahul Verma is humanitarian, spiritual worker, and the founder of the Uday Foundation, a non profit organization named after his son, who was born with multiple congenital defects. [2] His work includes distribution of free food to poor patients and their caregivers outside hospitals and related to health and dignity of destitute in India. [2] [3] [4] [5]

Uday Foundation

The Uday Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi, India. The foundation works on health, support and dignity to homeless and disaster relief. [6] [2] [7]

Activities

The foundation supports homeless people with in-kind help, providing clothes, blankets, dry ration and dignity kits. [8] [9] It helps disaster victims with food, shelter, water, sanitation and emergency supplies for the victims. [10] [11]

It runs a free medical clinic for underprivileged patients, [12] and provides medical help to critically ill children [13] including storytelling sessions for children in hospital. [14]

The foundation received the NGO Leadership & Excellence Awards 2015 by ABP News. [15]

NKB Divine Meditation Foundation

In 2024, Rahul Verma, a devoted follower of Neem Karoli Baba, founded NKB Divine Meditation, offering free guided meditation sessions based on the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba to help individuals connect with their inner peace and holistic well-being. [16]

The 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder, commonly known as the Nirbhaya case, involved a rape and fatal assault that occurred on 16 December 2012 in Munirka, a neighbourhood in South Delhi. The incident took place when Jyoti Singh, a 22-year-old physiotherapy intern, was beaten, gang-raped, and tortured in a private bus in which she was travelling with her male friend, Avnindra Pratap Pandey. There were six others in the bus, including the driver, all of whom raped the woman and beat her friend. She was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment and, as the public outrage mounted, the government had her transferred to the prestigious Mount Elizabeth hospital, Singapore eleven days after the assault, where she succumbed to her injuries two days later. The incident generated widespread national and international coverage and was widely condemned, both in India and abroad. Subsequently, public protests against the state and central governments for failing to provide adequate security for women took place in New Delhi, where thousands of protesters clashed with security forces. Similar protests took place in major cities throughout the country. Since Indian law does not allow the press to publish a rape victim's name, the victim was widely known as Nirbhaya, meaning "fearless", and her struggle and death became a symbol of women's resistance to rape around the world.

Baba Sewa Singh is an Indian social worker and environmentalist, involved in the restoration and maintenance of the historic Gurudwaras at Khadoor Sahib. Baba Sewa Singh is a recipient of the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation Sewa Award in 2004. The Government of India honored him in 2010, with the fourth highest civilian award of Padma Shri.

The CEO of the company, with a 94-percent share hold, is Balkrishna. Ramdev represents the company and makes strategic decisions. The company has faced various controversies over its misleading promotions and false claims for COVID-19 treatment.

The 2020 Delhi riots, or North East Delhi riots, were multiple waves of bloodshed, property destruction, and rioting in North East Delhi, beginning on 23 February 2020 and brought about chiefly by Hindu mobs attacking Muslims. Of the 53 people killed, two-thirds were Muslims who were shot, slashed with repeated blows, or set on fire. The dead also included over a dozen Hindus, who were shot or assaulted. More than a week after the violence had ended, hundreds of wounded were languishing in inadequately staffed medical facilities and corpses were being found in open drains. By mid-March many Muslims had remained missing.

On 14 September 2020, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, India, by four men. She died two weeks later in a Delhi hospital.

Humans For Humanity (HFH) is a non-governmental organization, founded by renowned social worker Anurag Chauhan, headquartered in Dehradun, India. It is working to bring awareness about menstrual health, hygiene among women across India. It is providing health, hygiene and comfort to women, especially in poverty-stricken and rural areas in India. The organization empowers women by educating women and young girls on menstruation and menstrual hygiene, and by conducting workshops to produce low-cost sanitary pads. The WASH project started by Humans For Humanity has reached over 3 million women in over 6 states in India in the last 6 years, as of October 2020.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Dal is a non-governmental organisation based in Delhi, India. The organisation, named after Indian freedom fighter martyr Bhagat Singh works towards access and availability of emergency services. It is led by former MLA Jitender Singh Shunty. The organisation used to help with cremation of unclaimed bodies before COVID-19; however, after the start of the pandemic, it recorded a great increase in number of calls. The organisation started mobile fronts to keep bodies safe overnight by storing them in refrigerators in ambulances so that the bodies could be cremated next day.

Ajmal Foundation is a non-governmental organization established in 2005, in the Hojai district of Assam, India, that works for social services including education, health, employment, environment, women empowerment, and poverty management.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Versha Verma</span>

Versha Verma is a Lucknow-based social worker and poet who runs a non-profit called "Ek Koshish Aisi Bhi" which she started in 2015. Her work came to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic when she began providing free assistance to families, transporting mortal remains from hospitals to cremation grounds and performing their last rites, all while risking her own life.
