Raid 2 is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language crime film. The film is directed once again by Raj Kumar Gupta like the original, and stars Ajay Devgn who reprise his role of Amay Patnaik. The film is a spiritual sequel to the original film Raid . The film Raid 2 was announced in April 2020. Just like the original film, the new film is also based on real-life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of Income Tax Department who work with intelligence agencies to track white-collar crimes. The team that produced the original film is once again producing the sequel including Panorama Studios and T-Series. The film also stars Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor, and Gayathiri Iyer in pivotal roles. [3] This time Ileana D'Cruz is not in scheme of things and has been replaced by Vaani Kapoor. [4]

The new film focuses on IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who tracks another white collar crime.

Development

The producer team of the original team is back together to produce the sequel. The writing team of the original film also are back together to write the script for the sequel. While Ajay Devgn retains his role, many other characters from the original have been changed including Ileana D'Cruz who played Amay Patnaik's wife has been replaced with Vaani Kapoor. Riteish Deshmukh has also been roped in to play a key role.

Filming

The principal photography of Raid 2 began on 6 January 2024 and took place across multiple locations across India including Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The mahurat shot of the film was given by Telugu superstar Ravi Teja, who is himself currently filming Mr. Bachchan the official Telugu remake of Raid. [6] The filming ended in early June 2024. The film is now headed towards post-production. [7] [8] [9]

Release

Raid 2 is scheduled to be released on 15 November 2024. [10]

The film stars Ajay Devgn, and Rakul Preet Singh who reprise their roles alongside R. Madhavan. The film was announced on 13 March 2024 by Luv Ranjan on social media and is scheduled to release on 1 May 2025.
