Rakesh Bhatnagar is an Indian educationist,scientist,and the current Vice Chancellor of Amity University Rajasthan. [2] [3] Previously he has served as the 27th Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. [4] [5]
He has an M. Sc. from Kanpur University and Phd from National Sugar Institute.
He has served as the dean of the school of biotechnology at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),the Vice Chancellor of Kumaun University,the director of the academic staff college at JNU,and the director of the Advanced Instrumentation Research Facility at JNU. [6] Dr. Bhatnagar also served as the Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University,Varanasi. [7] He helped develop a genetically engineered vaccine against anthrax. [8] He is an elected fellow of several major Indian science academies and is a recipient of many honors,including the 2016 President of India Visitor's Award for Innovation. [9] His team has also developed a DNA vaccine against Rabies. His research group has initiated research in other important infectious disease systems like Mycobacterium,Brucella;aiming to open avenues for their control.[ citation needed ] His areas of interest are Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases,Recombinant Vaccine Development,and Programmed Cell Death in Prokaryotes. Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a collegiate,central,and research university located in Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh,India,and founded in 1916. The university incorporated the Central Hindu College,founded by Indian Home Rule-leaguer and Theosophist,Annie Besant in 1898. After Besant and her associates were marginalised,the university was established by Madan Mohan Malaviya with the support of the maharaja of Darbhanga Rameshwar Singh,the maharaja of Benares Prabhu Narayan Singh,and the lawyer Sunder Lal. With over 30,000 students,and 18,000 residing on campus,BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi(IIT-BHU) is a public technical university located in Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh,India. Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College,it became the Institute of Technology,Banaras Hindu University in 1968. It was later designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. Patcha Ramachandra Rao was a metallurgist and administrator. He has the unique distinction of being the only Vice-Chancellor (2002–05) of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) who was also a student (1963–68) and faculty (1964–92) at that institution. From 1992 to 2002,Rao was the Director of the National Metallurgical Laboratory,Jamshedpur. After his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of B.H.U.,in 2005,he took the reins of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) as its first Vice-Chancellor. He was to serve DIAT until his superannuation in 2007. From 2007 till the end,Rao was a Raja Ramanna Fellow at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials,in Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh.

Sandeep Verma is an Indian bioorganic chemist and chemical biologist,and a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology,Kanpur (IITK). At IITK,he heads Sandeep Verma's Research Group in the areas of ordered peptide assemblies,metal-mediated nanoscale systems,programmable soft matter for neuronal regeneration,novel antimicrobials,and small molecule-stem cell modulation. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research,the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research,awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology,one of the highest Indian science awards,in 2010,for his contributions to Chemical Sciences.
Namvar Singh was an Indian literary critic,linguist,academician and theoretician. He received his doctorate degree from Banaras Hindu University where he also taught for some time. He served as a professor of Hindi literature in several other universities. He was the founder and first chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru University's Centre of Indian Languages and continued to remain as a professor emeritus after his retirement in 1992.
