Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir is a unit of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, in Malda district, India, which is a branch of Ramakrishna Mission. This boarding school is situated beside Ramakrishna Mission Road, South Baluchar at Malda, Malda district. [1] It is affiliated to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. [2] It is the first English-medium school in North Bengal run by Ramakrishna Mission. [3]

History

Ramkrishna Ashram was started in 1944 in Malda. [4] In 1942, Swami Parashibananadaji Maharaj who came to Malda Ashram and felt the need of setting up a school in the region. By the help of local people, the institute was established on 2 January 1944. Initially it was a night school set up inside the Ashrama campus with a few students. It was started as Vivekananda Vidyamandir. In 1980 the epithet Ramakrishna Mission was added to the name. [5] The school was awarded for good academic results in 2020. [6]

Swami Virajananda, born Kalikrishna Bose, was an initiated disciple of Sarada Devi and the sixth president of the Ramakrishna Order. Born as the son of Trailokyanath Bose and Nishadkalidevi, Virajananda was the first person to join the Ramakrishna Order after the direct disciples of Ramakrishna. In 1897, he was initiated into sannyasa by Vivekananda. From 1899 onward he served in Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati and became its president in 1906. He is recognised as a monastic disciple of Vivekananda.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Swarupananda</span>

Swarupananda was a direct monastic disciple of Vivekananda and the first president of the Advaita Ashrama, set up by Vivekananda in 1899 at Mayavati, near Champawat. The ashram is a branch of the religious monastic order, Ramakrishna Math, also set up by Vivekananda on the teachings of his guru Ramakrishna.

Nirmalananda, born as Tulasi Charan Dutta in Calcutta, was a direct disciple of Ramakrishna, the 19th-century mystic and Hindu saint from India, and took Sanyasa from Vivekananda along with Brahmananda and others. He was initiated by Sri Ramakrishna, on which fact a few latter-day antagonists tried to cast doubt in the Bangalore Court, but into which question the Court refused to get into. Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls' School or Sister Nivedita Girls' School is a girls' school at Bagbazar, North Kolkata. It was established by Scottish-Irish social worker, author, speaker and disciple of Swami Vivekananda, Sister Nivedita, in November 1898.

It is a member centre of South 24 Paraganas Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhava Prachar Parishad of Belur Math, and follows their guidelines. The Ashrama is situated at Nimpith in Jaynagar of South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Ashrama has 3 branch centres at Kaikhali, Jhargram and Bardhaman.

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narainpur (RKMN) is a branch centre of Ramakrishna Math and Mission in state of Chhattisgarh. It was founded on 2 August 1985 by Swami Atmananda to serve the tribals of the remote abujhmarh jungle. These tribals were mute victims of oppression and utter neglect for several centuries. The tribals, popularly known as 'Abujhmarias' have been categorised as particularly vulnerable tribal group by the government of India.
