Ravi Vasant Patel (born December 18, 1978) is an American actor. He and his sister wrote and directed an autobiographical documentary, Meet the Patels . [1]
Patel was born in Freeport, Illinois to Indian American parents, the son of financial consultant father Vasant Patel and real estate agent mother Champa Patel. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001 with double majors in Economics and International Studies. His sister, Geeta Patel, is a writer and director. [2]
An investment banker after college, Patel co-founded poker magazine All In while living in LA.
An emcee job with improvised stand-up in between acts led to auditions, Patel's first agent, and two dozen commercials in a year. He has been in over 70 national commercials, films and TV shows, most notably Transformers , Scrubs , It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia , The Comedians , and Hawaii Five-O .
From 2008 to 2009, Patel appeared as George Patil in six episodes on The CW's Easy Money . In 2010, he starred in Past Life on Fox. [3]
Patel co-directed and starred in Meet the Patels , a documentary that he made with his sister, Geeta Patel which won the audience award at the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival. [4] The film portrays Patel's autobiographical [5] journey of trying to find an Indian wife. [6] [7] [8] The duo has a deal with Fox Searchlight Pictures to write and direct a narrative remake of the film. [9] [10]
Patel worked in multiple episodes of the Aziz Ansari series Master of None . [10] From 2015 to 2016, Patel appeared on the John Stamos TV series Grandfathered . [7]
In 2020, Patel also created the CNN-produced docuseries Pursuit of Happiness which aired on HBO Max. [11] In the same year, Patel worked in Indian romantic comedy series, Bhaag Beanie Bhaag.
Since 2023, Patel has played a main role as Amit Patel in the Fox sitcom Animal Control . [12]
Patel is the co-founder of This Bar Saves Lives, [13] which donates a meal packet for every granola bar they sell. He is an active investor in start-ups in health and wellness. [14]
Patel is married to actress Mahaley Patel, with whom he has a daughter named Amelie, a daughter Saachi (deceased) son Kayya, and daughter Archi. [15]

Nate Parker is an American actor. He has appeared in Beyond the Lights, Red Tails, The Secret Life of Bees, The Great Debaters, Arbitrage, Non-Stop, Felon, and Pride. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, written by lyricist Prasoon Joshi, and produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in association with Rajiv Tandon and editor P.S. Bharathi under the ROMP Pictures banner. Based on the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete and Olympian who was a champion of the Commonwealth Games and two-time 400m champion of the Asian Games, it stars Farhan Akhtar in the title role alongside Divya Dutta, Meesha Shafi, Pavan Malhotra, Yograj Singh, Art Malik, and Prakash Raj in supporting roles with Sonam Kapoor in a special appearance.
He Named Me Malala is a 2015 American documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim. The film presents the young Pakistani female activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who has spoken out for the rights of girls, especially the right to education, since she was very young. The film also recounts how she survived and has become even more eloquent in her quest after being hunted down and shot by a Taliban gunman as part of the organization's violent opposition to girls' education in the Swat Valley in Pakistan. The title refers to the Afghani folk hero Malalai of Maiwand, after whom her father named her.

The series was created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang, with the first two seasons starring Ansari in the lead role of Dev Shah, a 30-year-old actor, and the third season starring Lena Waithe in the lead role of Denise, a 37-year-old lesbian novelist, mostly following their romantic, professional, and personal experiences. The first season is set in New York City, and consists of ten episodes. The second season, which takes place in Italy and New York, consists of ten episodes and was released on May 12, 2017. The third season, Moments in Love, premiered on Netflix on May 23, 2021.

It had its international premiere at Hot Docs in April 2014.
Albeli is a 1955 Hindi romantic drama film produced and directed by Devendra Goel. The film starred Geeta Bali in the title role of Albeli. It was produced under the Films And Televisions banner. The music director and lyricist was Ravi, who had made his debut as a composer with Goel's film Vachan released the same year as Albeli. Directed by Abi Varghese, Debbie Rao and Ishaan Nair, it has Mona Ambegaonkar, Girish Kulkarni, stand-up comedians Varun Thakur and Ravi Patel in supporting roles. The direction of Ishaan Nair was critically panned and faced heavy criticism. It was released on Netflix on 4 December 2020.

Good Fortune is an upcoming American comedy film written and directed by Aziz Ansari in his feature directorial debut. Keanu Reeves stars alongside Ansari, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh. It is produced by Ansari's company Oh Brudder Productions. It follows an angel named Gabriel (Reeves), whose failed attempt to show a struggling man (Ansari) that money doesn't solve one's problems—by body swapping him with his wealthy employer Jeff (Rogen)—results in Gabriel losing his wings, while the work he did as an angel begins to unravel around them.
