Senator Vitale came to the Senate in 1998 filling a vacancy created when Jim McGreevey stepped down from his seat as part of his ultimately unsuccessful bid for election as Governor of New Jersey in 1997. Vitale attended John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Woodbridge Township.

Nicholas Paul Scutari is an American politician and attorney who has served as the 115th president of the New Jersey Senate since 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, he has held a Senate seat since 2004, representing the 22nd legislative district.

Peter A. Inverso is an American banker and Republican Party politician, who represented New Jersey's 14th legislative district in the New Jersey Senate from 1992 to 2008.

Robert Eugene Littell was an American Republican Party politician who served as a member of the New Jersey Senate from 1990 to 2008. He represented the 15th Legislative District until 1982 and the 24th Legislative District thereafter. Before entering the Senate he served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1968 to 1990 and the Franklin Borough Council from 1963 to 1965. He was a Democratic candidate for Governor of New Jersey in the 2017 election, he lost in the primary election to Phil Murphy.

Dawn Marie Addiego is an American politician who represented the New Jersey's 8th legislative district in the New Jersey Senate from 2010 to 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served in the General Assembly from January 8, 2008 to November 22, 2010 as a Republican. On November 15, 2010, after Phil Haines was confirmed to serve on the New Jersey Superior Court for Burlington County, that county's Republican committee nominated and appointed Addiego to fill Haines's vacant seat until the June 2011 primary and the November 2011 general election.

Annette M. Quijano is an American Democratic Party politician, who has represented the 20th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly since September 25, 2008, having been selected by Union County Democrats to succeed Neil M. Cohen, who resigned on July 28, 2008, amid allegations of child pornography on an official computer.

Jamel Curtis Holley is an American Democratic Party politician from the state of New Jersey, who served in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 20th Legislative District from 2015 to 2022. He is the first African American to represent the district, serving out the unexpired term of former Assemblyman and now State Senator Joseph Cryan, and formerly served as councilman and then mayor of Roselle, New Jersey; at age 32, he was the borough's youngest-ever mayor. In 2021, Holley unsuccessfully challenged Cryan in the June 2021 New Jersey State Senate primary, losing by 29 points. Two years later, Holley attempted a comeback and unsuccessfully challenged incumbent Mayor Donald Shaw in the Roselle Mayoral Democratic primary and lost by 2 points.

Caddle has served as a consultant for numerous New Jersey politicians, including Bob Menendez, Lou Manzo, and Raymond Lesniak. He has also served as the executive director of the Committee for Economic Growth and Social Justice, a SuperPAC linked to New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak. Outside of New Jersey, he served as director of Houston Votes, a Harris County, Texas voter registration organization that was accused of submitting falsified voter registration cards during the 2010 election cycle.
