Rebecca Leigh Mader (born 24 April 1977) [1] [2] is an English actress, best known for her roles as Charlotte Lewis in the ABC series Lost , and as Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West, on ABC's Once Upon a Time .
Mader was born in 1977 in Cambridge, England. [1] She worked as a model in New York City for a year, appearing in adverts for L'Oréal, Colgate and Wella Hair. She began her television career on the ABC daytime soap operas All My Children as Morgan Gordon, and One Life to Live as Margaret Cochran. [3] She also appeared on the soap opera Guiding Light in 2003.
Also in 2003, Mader began acting in films, with Mimic 3: Sentinel , a direct-to-DVD sequel. Hitch two years later, was her first theatrical release, albeit without a credit. In 2006 she had a small role in The Devil Wears Prada as Jocelyn, the assistant editor whose suggestion for a story about springtime floral prints draws a withering reply from Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestley. Mader has made a number of guest appearances on television shows. In 2006, she had a series regular role on the short-lived Fox legal drama Justice . In 2008, Mader began starring as anthropologist Charlotte Lewis on ABC series Lost. [5] She appeared in the show from 2008 to 2009 and in two episodes in 2010. In 2011, she had a recurring role on No Ordinary Family , and in 2012, she made a guest starring appearance on the Fox science-fiction series Fringe as Jessica Holt. [6] Also in 2012, Mader starred in the short-lived ABC comedy series Work It . [7]
In June 2013, Mader made her stage debut in the role of Barrie in the one-act comedy The Third Date at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. [8]
In December 2013, Mader was cast as the Wicked Witch of the West, a new antagonist for the second half of the third season of Once Upon a Time. [9] She also made guest appearances during the second half of the fourth season and was later promoted to a series regular for the fifth and sixth seasons. [10] In May 2017, Mader announced that she would not be returning for the seventh season of the show due to a creative decision by the showrunners. [11] However, in September 2017, it was announced that Mader would be reprising her role as Zelena in a recurring capacity for the second half of the seventh season. [12] In all, she made seven appearances in the seventh season, including the series finale "Leaving Storybrooke".
In May 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown in California, Mader created the "At Home with Sean and Bex" interview series on YouTube with Once Upon a Time co-star Sean Maguire. [13]
Mader's first husband was businessman Joseph Arongino. They divorced in 2008. [14]
On 29 December 2014, Mader announced her engagement to producer Marcus Kayne. [15] The two were married on 23 November 2016 [16] and she gave birth to their first child in 2019. [17] Mader announced the birth of her second child in 2021.

Glinda is a fictional character created by L. Frank Baum for his Oz novels. She first appears in Baum's 1900 children's classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and is the most powerful sorceress in the Land of Oz, ruler of the Quadling Country South of the Emerald City, and protector of Princess Ozma.
Nick Chopper, the Tin Woodman, is a character in the fictional Land of Oz created by American author L. Frank Baum. He first appeared in his 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and reappeared in many other subsequent Oz books in the series. In late 19th-century America, men made out of various tin pieces were used in advertising and political cartoons. Baum, who was editing a magazine on decorating shop windows when he wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was inspired to create the Tin Woodman by a figure he had built out of metal parts for a shop display.
The Wicked Witch of the West, a fictional character in the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) by the American author L. Frank Baum, is the evil ruler of the Winkie Country, the western region in the Land of Oz. She is inadvertently killed by the child Dorothy Gale. In Baum's subsequent Oz novels, the Wicked Witch of the West is referred to occasionally.
Lana Parrilla is an American actress. Sean Maguire is an English-American actor and singer who has been professionally making films, television shows and performing on stage for over 40 years. Originally from London, Maguire started his career at age five starring alongside Lord Olivier in A Voyage Round My Father. He then rose to fame at age ten when he was cast in the BBC drama Grange Hill in the role of "Tegs" Ratcliffe in which he remained until 1991. After leaving Grange Hill, Maguire played Aidan Brosnan in EastEnders.
Once Upon a Time is an American fantasy adventure drama television series that aired for seven seasons on ABC from October 23, 2011 to May 18, 2018. The Silver Shoes are the magical shoes that appear in L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as heroine Dorothy Gale's transport home. They are originally owned by the Wicked Witch of the East but passed to Dorothy when her house lands on the Witch. At the end of the story, Dorothy uses the shoes to transport herself back to her home in Kansas, but when she arrives at her destination finds the shoes have fallen off en route.
