Redroad FM is a community radio station based in Kiveton Park, South Yorkshire, England. It was founded as a non-profit in June 2007. [2] It broadcasts on 102.4 FM and can be received across parts of Rotherham, Sheffield and North Derbyshire. [3]
Redroad initially began broadcasting in February 2007. [4] In December 2007, it was granted a community radio license by Ofcom (alongside a number of other stations including Sine FM of Doncaster). [5] The station was cited to be located in Harthill and that it had a focus on the youth. [6]
The station began full time broadcasting on 27 March 2010 on the 102.4 MHz frequency. [7]
In September 2024, Ofcom extended the station's broadcasting license for another five years. [8]
Redroad's transmitters are located near the M1 motorway by the village of Wales. [9] Its immediate coverage area includes Kiveton Park, Harthill, Aston, and Killamarsh, and it can also be received in Swallownest, Todwick, Laughton Common, Eckington, and eastern suburbs of Sheffield. [9]
Redroad FM plays a mixed format of content. [10] The station's website advertises it as playing the "BIGGEST variety of music!". [11]
In addition to broadcasting, Redroad FM Ltd have also been involved in community charity events, [12] including a toy appeal to give to children at the local hospitals. [13]
