Resonate Broadcasting is an Australian media company, operating radio stations across various centres across regional Queensland, as well as Hawaii. Formed in 2008, with the acquisition of 3GG Warragul, Victoria, 4GC and Hot FM Charters Towers, Queensland, the company currently operates 16 radio stations across Australia and the United States.

History

The company was formed in 2008 by directors Rex Morris and Guy Dobson. [1] The former was the group Program Director for Austereo's Triple M Network, based in Brisbane, while the latter was the group's CEO. The first acquisitions were of three stations divested by Macquarie Media Group following its purchase of Southern Cross Broadcasting3GG Warragul, Victoria, and 4GC and Hot FM Charters Towers, Queensland. [2] In July 2012, the stations were joined by two more, with 4LG and West FM in Longreach sold to the company by Radio Outback Pty. Ltd. [3]

On 31 May 2012, the company acquired three radio stations in Hawaii from Chaparral Broadcasting Inc.KHBC and KIPA in Hilo, and KHWI in Holualoa – through subsidiary Resonate Hawaii, LLC. [4] [5] KHBC and KWHI began simulcasting as adult top 40 The Wave @92FM, and in 2013 was joined by alternative rock 102.7 The Beach KTBH-FM. [6]

After an attempted sale to Watermark Media fell through, in February 2015 Warragul, Victoria-based 3GG was acquired by the Capital Radio Network. [7] [8] On 30 October 2015, it was announced the company had acquired the assets of Macquarie Regional Radio, a subsidiary of Macquarie Radio Network, thereby adding eight stations to their network in Queensland. [9]

Sea FM was an Australian radio network, consisting of stations in Queensland and NSW owned by Southern Cross Austereo. Some Sea FM stations were later sold to meet media ownership requirements. Prime Television Limited purchased Sea FM Townsville in Queensland and Grant Broadcasters purchased Sea FM stations in Devonport and Burnie in Tasmania. All Sea FM stations currently owned by Southern Cross Austereo except Cairns, Mackay and Rockhampton / Gladstone, are part of the Hit Network after Southern Cross Media merged with Austereo.

Capital Radio Network is an Australian radio company, which owns stations in Canberra, Goulburn, Cooma, the Snowy Mountains, Gippsland and Perth. The company is a subsidiary of Blyton Group, with Kevin James Blyton as managing director for both. The company first acquired 2XL in the Snowy Mountains, as well as 2CC and 2CA in Canberra - the latter two offloaded from parent companies Australian Radio Network and Austereo respectively in order for them to launch joint-venture stations 104.7 and Mix 106.3.

Hot FM (Australian radio network) Former radio network in Australia

Hot FM was a radio network broadcasting to Queensland and Western Australia. Owned and operated by Southern Cross Austereo, the stations broadcast a mix of local and networked programming. On 15 December 2016, the stations were merged into the Hit Network.

Blyton Group is an Australian media and entertainment company. The company primarily operates in the radio industry under their subsidiary Capital Radio Network and owns hospitality, service and entertainment businesses in New South Wales.
