"Revolt" is a song by the English rock band Muse from their seventh studio album, Drones (2015). It was released as the third single from the album on 4 November 2015. [2]
In his review of the album, Gigwise's Andrew Trendell called the song a "squelchy synth-fuelled call to arms and power ballad for the space-age, somewhere between Bryan Adams, Journey and Eurovision". [3] The NME's Mark Beaumont described the song as "a two-speed storm built on monumental riffs". [4]
The "theatrical" video features the band "performing against a backdrop of dystopian warfare between man and drone". [2] Shot in Prague, the band "wanted the video in black and white only using color to represent revolution". [5] The video was made available on Apple Music, [5] while a 'Virtual Reality' version can be viewed on vrse.com. [6] The video is in 360°.
Reaction to the song was mixed. While NME's Mark Beaumont ranked "Revolt" among the band's "most creative songs", [4] Consequence of Sound's Collin Brennan likened it to the "overblown theatrics of Queen". Calling it "a catchy, occasionally rousing song with a couple of neat tricks up its sleeve", he concludes that the song ultimately fails to be the "convincing call to action" it seemingly intends to be. [7]

Muse are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard (drums).
The discography of Muse, an English rock band, consists of nine studio albums, two live albums, one compilation album, one box set, five extended plays (EPs), 44 singles, two video albums, 61 music videos and four other appearances. Formed in Teignmouth, Devon in 1994, the band signed with Taste Media before releasing their debut album Showbiz in 1999. The album was a success across Europe, and in the UK reached number 29 on the UK Albums Chart, as well as being certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Five singles were released from Showbiz, with final release "Unintended" the band's first to reach the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. Muse released their second album Origin of Symmetry in 2001, which reached number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the BPI. The album's first three singles, "Plug In Baby", "New Born" and "Bliss", all reached the UK top 25.
"Citizen Erased" is a song by English rock band Muse. It is the sixth track on their second studio album, Origin of Symmetry (2001). Written by singer and guitarist Matt Bellamy, it is a grandiose, multi-section progressive rock and space rock song that serves as the centrepiece of Origin of Symmetry. Despite having not been released as a single at first, it charted at No. 122 on the UK Singles Chart in 2007 and became a fan favourite. Drones is the seventh studio album by English rock band Muse, released on 5 June 2015 through Warner Bros. Records and the band's own Helium-3 imprint. The album was recorded between October 2014 and April 2015 at the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, with orchestral sections recorded at Officine Meccaniche in Milan, and was produced by the band and Robert John "Mutt" Lange. Drones is a concept album following a soldier's abandonment, indoctrination as a "human drone", and eventual defection. It also comments on the Obama administration’s drone program. After their previous albums incorporated orchestral and electronic music, Muse aimed to return to a more straightforward rock sound musically.

An apocalyptic song, it serves as a sequel to the song "Citizen Erased" from their 2001 album Origin of Symmetry. Part of this song contains music based on "Nimrod" from Enigma Variations, composed by Edward Elgar. The song follows "Aftermath", which centers on the album's protagonist discovering love. Matt Bellamy has said that the album's negative stories, "The Globalist" and "Drones", together serve as an epilogue. At ten minutes and seven seconds, it is the second longest song in Muse's discography, after "Exogenesis: Symphony".

It was released on 8 October 2015 by Dirty Hit and Polydor Records as the lead single from the album. Written two years before its release, the song was inspired by the band's adjustment to their newfound celebrity status, having found themselves in a scene where fame was prized as currency. The contemporary political climate of the United States informed the lyrics.
