Rickey Lee Lawson [3] (born March 7, 1947 [4] ) is an American actor who has starred in movies and on television. He is perhaps best known for his roles in genre films; he portrayed Ryan in the 1982 film Poltergeist , and Dr. Ben Taylor in the 1983 NBC miniseries V .

Life and career

Born Rickey Lee Lawson in Loma Linda, California, Lawson was drafted into the United States Army and became a medic. He served 21 months in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and was wounded in action. [4] After completing his military duty, he embarked on an acting career. His first feature film role (uncredited) was that of a gay man targeted for murder in the 1971 movie Dirty Harry . In 1973, he played Willis in Scream Blacula Scream . His other well known roles include the 1979 movie The Main Event , and the 1984 drama Streets of Fire , where he played Officer Ed Price. Lawson's first ongoing starring role in a television series was in Australian drama Hotel Story in 1977, however, that series was cancelled before the first episode aired. He later starred in the 1980s series Chicago Story ; he took the ongoing role of Nick Kimball on the prime time soap opera Dynasty from 1986 to 1987, appeared in The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd as Detective Nathaniel Hawthorne from 1989 to 1991, and was in the daytime soap opera All My Children as Lucas Barnes from 1992 to 1994. Lawson has made many guest appearances on television, including roles on Kojak , Get Christie Love! , Sister, Sister , Soul Food , The Bernie Mac Show , The Division , “”All in the Family”” and Strong Medicine .

Personal life

Lawson was married to his first wife, actress Denise Gordy, from New Year's Eve 1978 until 1989. [2] They have one daughter, actress Bianca Lawson, born in 1979. Lawson also has a son named Ricky, born in 1992. [5] On March 22, 1992, Lawson survived the USAir Flight 405 plane crash, after take-off from LaGuardia Airport, in Queens, New York City. [6] During the summer of 2013, he began dating Tina Knowles, fashion designer and mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. [7] Lawson and Knowles had known each other for over 30 years, as she was the best friend of his late sister. [8] As a result, Lawson stated that he had "always admired her from afar and up close too." [9] The couple married on April 12, 2015. [10] Knowles filed for divorce in July 2023. [11]

Destiny's Child was an American girl group whose final lineup comprised Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. The group began their musical career as Girl's Tyme, formed in 1990 in Houston, Texas. After years of limited success, the original quartet comprising Knowles, Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett were signed in 1997 to Columbia Records as Destiny's Child. The group was launched into mainstream recognition following the release of the song "No, No, No" and their best-selling second album, The Writing's on the Wall (1999), which contained the number-one singles "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name", alongside successful singles "Bug a Boo" and "Jumpin', Jumpin'". Life Is But a Dream is a 2013 autobiographical television film, co-directed and executive produced by American singer Beyoncé Knowles in her directorial debut. The film uses a combination of professional camera footage, private videos from Knowles' laptop and from her May 2012 four-night revue at Revel Atlantic City. Mathew Knowles & Music World Present Vol.1: Love Destiny is a compilation album released by R&B group Destiny's Child. A Seat at the Table is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Solange. It was released on September 30, 2016, by Saint Records and Columbia Records. While recording the album, Solange released an EP, titled True (2012) and launched her own record label named Saint Records. Writing for the album began as early as 2008, while the recording sessions took place from 2013 to June 2016. Solange enlisted a variety of collaborators including rappers Lil Wayne and Q-Tip; singer-songwriters The-Dream, BJ the Chicago Kid, Kelly Rowland and Tweet; and musicians Sampha, Kelela and David Longstreth.

Angela Renee Beyincé is an American songwriter, actress, and music executive. She is a cousin of American singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, and has made songwriting contributions to several of Beyoncé's albums including Dangerously in Love, Destiny Fulfilled, B'Day, and I Am... Sasha Fierce. Beyincé co-wrote the hit song "Naughty Girl", as well as the number one single "Check on It". Officially credited as an assistant on films such as The Fighting Temptations (2003), The Pink Panther (2006), and Dreamgirls (2006), Beyincé once worked as Vice President of Operations at Parkwood Entertainment. Richard "Ricky" Landon Lawson is a Grammy-nominated American songwriter and A&R. Lawson is the son of actor Richard Lawson and the younger half-brother of actress Bianca Lawson. He is best known for co-writing the Billboard Hot 100-charting songs "Heated" and "Summer Renaissance" from Beyoncé's 2022 album Renaissance and managing projects such as Chloe x Halle's "Ungodly Hour" visual for Beyoncé's company Parkwood Entertainment, as well as her film Black Is King and the Renaissance World Tour.
