Danville is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. The city is located in the Southside Virginia region and on the fall line of the Dan River. It was a center of tobacco production and was an area of Confederate activity during the American Civil War,due to its strategic location on the Richmond and Danville Railroad. In April 1865 it briefly served as the third and final capital of the Confederacy before its surrender later that year.

The Danville Dashers are a hockey team from Danville,Illinois,in the Federal Prospects Hockey League. The team is now known as Dashers Hockey during their second incarnation from 2024. The Dashers were named in honor of the original Danville Dashers. From 2011 to 2020,the team played their home games at David S. Palmer Arena,which was also home to the original Dashers that played in the Continental Hockey League from 1981 to 1986,but were voted out of the arena in 2021. On February 28,2024,it was announced that the David S. Palmer Arena board had accepted the lease from Barry Soskin and Diane Short to bring the Danville Dashers back for the 2024-25 season.

Andrea Joy Campbell is an American lawyer and politician who is serving as the attorney general of Massachusetts. Campbell is a former member of the Boston City Council. On the city council,she represented District 4,which includes parts of Boston's Dorchester,Mattapan,Jamaica Plain,and Roslindale neighborhoods. A member of the Democratic Party,she was first elected to the council in November 2015 and assumed office in January 2016. She served as president of the council from January 2018 until January 2020. Campbell unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Boston in 2021,placing third in the nonpartisan primary election behind Annissa Essaibi George and Michelle Wu,the latter of whom would go on to win the general election.
Darren Bailey is an American politician who was a Republican member of the Illinois Senate for the 55th District and previously a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 109th District in Southern Illinois. Widely described by news outlets as a far-right politician,he was the Republican nominee for the 2022 Illinois gubernatorial election,which he lost to incumbent J. B. Pritzker.
Abortion in Illinois is legal up to the point of fetal viability. As hospitals set up barriers in the 1950s,the number of therapeutic abortions declined. Following Roe v. Wade in 1973,Illinois passed a number of restrictions on abortion,many of which have subsequently been repealed. Illinois updated its existing abortion laws in June 2019. The state has seen a decline in the number of abortion clinics over the years,going from 58 in 1982 to 47 in 1992 to 24 in 2014.
Abortion in Ohio is legal up to the point of fetal viability as a result of abortion rights being placed into the Ohio State Constitution by November 2023 Ohio Issue 1.
Lydia Marie Edwards is an American attorney and politician. She served as a member of the Boston City Council from the 1st district from 2018 to 2022 and has served as a member of the Massachusetts Senate from the 1st Suffolk and Middlesex district since 2022. She resigned from the Boston City Council at the end of April 2022.

Brandun Schweizer is an American politician who serves as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 104th district. He represents parts of Vermilion and Champaign counties in east-central Illinois. Schweizer was appointed to the 104th District to fill the vacancy of retiring Mike Marron. Before serving as the 104th district Representative,Schweizer served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years. During his time in the USMC,he served as a Recruiter,Intelligence Analyst,and Equal Opportunity Advisor,retiring in January 2023. Following his retirement from the USMC,Schweizer began working for the City of Danville as a Code Enforcement Officer until his appointment in December 2023.
