Robert "Robbie" Brackett is a Republican member of the Florida Legislature representing the state's 34th House district,which includes Indian River County and some of Brevard County. Brackett previously served as the mayor of Vero Beach. [1]

Vero Man refers to a set of fossilized human bones found near Vero,Florida,in 1915 and 1916. The human bones were found in association with those of Pleistocene animals. Pleistocene dates range from 2,580,000 to 11,700 years ago. The suggestion that humans might have been present in Florida during the Pleistocene was controversial at the time and most of the contemporary archaeologists did not accept that the Vero fossils could be that old.

The Vero Theatre is a historic theater in Vero Beach,Florida. Located at 2036 14th Avenue,the Vero Theatre was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style by architect F.H. Trimble. It opened on October 14,1924,as the city's first motion picture theater with its first feature film being the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The theatre became the center of the fight to remove Indian River from St. Lucie County as a result of local blue laws prohibiting Sunday film viewing. Governor John W. Martin created Indian River County in the theatre in May 1925. On April 28,1992,it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Theatre closed in 1985 when other multiplex theatres opened nearby. The last film shown was Desperately Seeking Susan.
The Pueblo Arcade is a historic building in Vero Beach,Florida. Located at 2044 14th Avenue,the Pueblo Arcade was built in the Mission/Spanish Revival style in 1926 by local contractors Blackford and Davis. This structure was very popular among the citizens of Vero Beach due to its ingenious design,prior to the introduction of Air Conditioning. It consisted of arcades with shop doorways opening onto a single hallway which opened to the street. The structure was restored by developer Robert L. Brackett and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 8,1997. Prior to renovation,the location served as the flagship store for DuBose Jewelers,a regional jewelry store chain which opened in Vero in 1912.

Anthony William Young (1866–1948) was a part of the pioneer families of the Indian Rive County,Young was a manager at the Indian River Farms Company in 1914 to 1919. He then became the first mayor of Vero Beach,Florida,in June 12,1919,when the city was first incorporated,to his leave of office in December 14,1921. He also became the fifth mayor of Vero Beach from December 10,1935,to December 15,1937. Young was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1921 to 1925,and a member of the Florida Senate from 1929 to 1931. He is considered to be the founder of Indian River County because he was the legislative author of the act which created it by splitting it off from St. Lucie County in 1925.
