Robbinsdale Armstrong High School (AHS; full name Robbinsdale Neil A. Armstrong Senior High School) is located in Plymouth, Minnesota, just outside Minneapolis. The school serves students from the cities of Robbinsdale, Crystal, New Hope, Plymouth and Golden Valley.
The school offers core subjects as well as technology education, physical education, and the fine arts. Newsweek ranked the school 1324. In their "List of the 1500 Top High Schools in America," [2] and The Washington Post ranked AHS as #11 in Minnesota. [3] Armstrong, along with the Robbinsdale Area School District, have also been ranked among the "100 Best Communities for Music Education" by the American Music Conference. [4]
The school's athletic programs have made it to state competitions on many occasions. School tradition maintains that the school's rival is Robbinsdale Cooper.[ citation needed ] Together, Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper serve the secondary school population of over 4000 students in the district.
Armstrong is a four-year public high school located in Plymouth, Minnesota and it is one of two public high schools in the district, along with Robbinsdale Cooper High School.
Robbinsdale Armstrong High School was built in 1969, and it has undergone several renovations and upgrades since its construction, with the most recent major renovation finished in 2003. The campus consists of four interconnected buildings with four stories. The grounds contain a varsity and a junior varsity football field. In addition, Armstrong has two baseball fields, several enclosed tennis courts, and a track going around the football field.
Armstrong was once a member of the Classic Lake Conference; however, it was voted out of the conference due to declining enrollment as of 2010, thus Armstrong was admitted to the Northwest Suburban Conference. [5]

It is also Minnesota's largest secondary school by size, with an interior of 658,000 square feet (61,100 m2). Robbinsdale Cooper High School is a 4-year public high school in New Hope, Minnesota, a northwest suburb of Minneapolis, United States. Cooper, as it is informally known, became an IB World School in July 1998, and now offers the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme along with a wide variety of courses and curricula suited to the needs of every student. RCHS has a large fine arts and music program, as well as multiple extracurricular activities including a broad selection of athletics. RCHS is home to about 1600 students. Cooper students and alumni are known as Hawks, after the school's mascot.
The Classic Lake Conference was a conference for high schools in the west metro area of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. The Classic Lake Conference was one of many in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area that divide schools in proximity into different conferences. The mission of the conference was to promote and recognize excellence by providing quality experiences for students in programs of academics, arts, athletics and activities. The Classic Lake Conference conducted its activities under the auspices of and in concert with the Minnesota State High School League.

The school has existed for over 120 years in several buildings all located on the city's northside. Minneapolis North once had a predominantly Jewish student body but by 1982, the school and the neighborhood it is located in had become mostly African American. Desegregation efforts, such as magnet school programs, have attempted to attract students from throughout Minneapolis and nearby suburbs. Metro West Conference is a high school athletic conference in Minnesota. The name is based on the location of the schools in the western part of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area. The conference began in fall 2014. The conference was announced on March 5, 2013, by seven public schools. In September 2013, the Minnesota State High School League assigned Benilde-St. Margaret's a private school, to the conference over the objections of the other schools. Richfield High School left in 2019. Kennedy left in 2022.
Elk River High School is a public high school located in Elk River, Minnesota, United States. It is the one of four high schools in the Elk River Area School District and its feeder schools are VandenBerge Middle School and Salk Middle School. In the 2011–12 school year, Elk River had an enrollment of 1,649 students. Elk River's colors are red and white. The National Center of Education Statistics classifies the high school as a large, suburban campus. The Elk River Elks compete in the Northwest Suburban Conference of the Minnesota State High School League as well as in Section 7AAAAA (5A) for football. Elk River High School opened in 1888.

A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), Vang represents District 38B in the northwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area, which includes parts of the cities of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park in Hennepin County.
