Robert Tinsley Holtby FSA was an Anglican priest [1] and author. [2] in the second half of the 20th century.
Born in Thornton-le-Dale [3] on 25 February 1921 [4] and educated at Scarborough College and St Edmund Hall, Oxford, he was ordained after a period of study at Ripon College Cuddesdon in 1947. [5] In that year he married Mary, the elder daughter of Eric Graham, the Bishop of Brechin: [6] they had three children. He was Curate of Pocklington until 1948 when he became a Chaplain to the Forces. Following this he was Chaplain and an Assistant Master at Malvern College [3] then St Edward's School, Oxford. From 1959 to 1967 he was a Canon Residentiary at Carlisle Cathedral and a Director of Education, Diocese of Carlisle. For the next decade he was General Secretary of the National Society for Promoting Religious Education. During the same period, he was a member of the Schools Committee, Church of England Board of Education, serving as Secretary (1967–74) and then General Secretary (1974–77). He was Dean of Chichester [7] from 1977 until his retirement in 1989. He died on 13 March 2003. [8]
Graham Douglas Leonard was an English Roman Catholic priest and former Anglican bishop. His principal ministry was as a bishop of the Church of England but, after his retirement as the Bishop of London, he became a Roman Catholic, becoming the most senior Anglican cleric to do so since the English Reformation. He was conditionally ordained to the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church and was later appointed a monsignor by Pope John Paul II.
The College of Chaplains of the Ecclesiastical Household of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom is under the Clerk of the Closet, an office dating from 1437. It is normally held by a diocesan bishop, who may, however, remain in office after leaving his see. The current Clerk is James Newcome, Bishop of Carlisle. In his role as Clerk of the Closet, he took part in the Royal procession at the 2023 Coronation.
Michael Charles Scott-Joynt was an English bishop and a Prelate of the Order of the Garter. He was appointed Bishop of Winchester, one of the five senior bishoprics in the Church of England, in 1995. He had previously served as Bishop of Stafford in the Diocese of Lichfield from 1987 and before that as a canon residentiary at St Albans Cathedral. On 10 October 2010, it was announced that Scott-Joynt intended to retire, which he did in May 2011.
Christopher John Hill, is a retired British Anglican bishop. From 1996 to 2004, he was the Bishop of Stafford, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Lichfield. From 2004 to 2013, he was the Bishop of Guildford, the diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Guildford. In addition, he served as the Clerk of the Closet in the Ecclesiastical Household of the Royal Household of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom from 2005 to 2014.
Pocklington School is a private day and boarding school in Pocklington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1514 by John Dolman. The school is situated in 50 acres (20 ha) of land, on the outskirts of the small market town, 12 miles (19 km) from York and 26 miles (42 km) from Hull. It is the 67th oldest school in the United Kingdom and celebrated its 500th birthday in 2014.
Douglas Geoffrey Rowell was an Anglican bishop, who served as Bishop of Basingstoke and then as the third Bishop in Europe until his retirement on 8 November 2013. Following his retirement he ministered as an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Chichester and in the Diocese of Portsmouth. He died in the early morning of Trinity Sunday, 11 June 2017.
Eric Waldram Kemp was a Church of England bishop. He was the Bishop of Chichester from 1974 to 2001. He was one of the leading Anglo-Catholics of his generation and one of the most influential figures in the Church of England in the last quarter of the twentieth century.

James Lawton Thompson was a British Anglican bishop. He was firstly the suffragan Bishop of Stepney from 1978 to 1991 and later the diocesan Bishop of Bath and Wells in succession to George Carey who had become Archbishop of Canterbury. He retired in 2001.
William Gordon Wheeler was an English prelate and the bishop emeritus of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds. Wheeler had served as the seventh Roman Catholic Bishop of Leeds, being succeeded by David Konstant. Before that, he served as coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Middlesbrough and as Titular Bishop of Theudalis.

Robert Murray Waddington, OGS was a British Anglican priest. He was the dean of Manchester in the Church of England from 1984 to 1993. He additionally served as superior of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd from 1987 until 1990.
Andrew Tremlett is a British Church of England priest. Since 2022, he has served as Dean of St Paul's, and is therefore the head of the Chapter of St Paul's Cathedral and the most senior priest in the Diocese of London. Previously, he was a canon residentiary of Bristol Cathedral (2008–2010), a canon residentiary of Westminster Abbey (2010–2016) and Dean of Durham (2016–2022).
