"Roll On" is a song by Australian punk rock band The Living End. It was released on 22 January 2001, as the second single from the band's album of the same name. The track's title is based on the 1998 Australian waterfront dispute. [1] In Billboard Cheney states "It's a stomping song for the underdog. Kind of a hope song, about getting past your obstacles and living to tell the tale." [2]
The song reached number 15 in the ARIA Charts, [3] number 2 on the Australian alternative charts, [4] number 33 on the Billboard's Modern Rock chart, [5] and appeared in the top 150 of the UK Singles Chart. The music video for the song was directed by Mark Hartley. [2]
"Roll On" was used in National Lampoon's Van Wilder , as well as promotional advertisements for ESPN's X-Games. It was also used by professional wrestler Nigel McGuinness as his entrance music.
The song was described by PopMatters as "an anthem destined to shake the trio of its rockabilly notions forever." [6]
