Roshy Augustine (born 20 January 1969) is an Indian politician who has served as the Minister for Water Resources of Kerala since 2021. [1] [2] [3] He is a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly representing Idukki since 2001. He is a member of the Kerala Congress (M) party.
He was born to Leelamma and Augustine Thomas of the Cherunilathuchalil House on 20 January 1969 at Pala. He started his political career from his school level. He was the leader of Edakkoli Government High School Parliament,Unit President of Kerala Students Congress (M) in St. Thomas College,Pala,state general secretary and president of Kerala Students Congress (M),member of Kerala State Legal Aid and Advisory Board and director board member of Ramapuram Service Co-Operative Bank. Currently,he is the general secretary of Kerala Congress (M). [4] [5]
Roshy Augustine entered politics while he was still a student and soon became the leader of the Edakkoli Government High School Parliament. He graduated with a BSc Physics from St. Thomas College Pala affiliated to MG University Kottayam in 1990–93. He had held different positions in KSC(M) such as college Unit President,St Thomas College,Palai;State General Secretary and President KSC(M);Member,Kerala State Legal Aid and advisory board;Director Board Member,Ramapuram Service Co-operative Bank. His notable acts include 'Vimochana Padayathra' in which he led 43 days long rally from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram in 1995 and 'Vimochana Yatra' in 2001 to awaken the people of Kerala against corruption,alcoholism and moral degeneration. He is serving as a Minister for Irrigation,Command Area Development Authority,Ground Water Department,Water Supply and Sanitation, [6] in the Pinarayi Vijayan Government from 20 May 2021 onwards .

Mannathu Padmanabhan was an Indian social reformer and freedom fighter from the south-western state of Kerala. He is recognised as the founder of the Nair Service Society (NSS),which represents the Nair community that constitutes 15.5% of the population of the state. Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who is the current Chief Minister of Kerala,serving since 25 May 2016. He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998. St. Thomas College,Pala (Autonomous) is a government aided college of higher education located in Pala town,Kerala,India. It was founded on 7 August 1950 by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Palai. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam and was re-accredited with A++ grade by NAAC in February 2021. The college is recognized under the sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act 1956. The Government of Kerala has recognized the college as a Special Grade College.

He represented Muvattupuzha constituency in third Lok Sabha (1962–67). He was the first chairman of the Pala Municipality.
