Kunjukutty Krishnankutty (born 13 August 1944) is an Indian politician who is serving as the Minister for Electricity of Kerala since 2021. [1] He previously served as the Minister for Water Resources of Kerala from 2018 to 2021. He is a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly representing Chittur since 2016 and previously from 1991 to 1996 and from 1980 to 1987. He is a member of the Janata Dal (Secular) Party.
He started his political career with the Congress party and became a KPCC member in 1969 and continued till the inception of Janata Party. [2] He was elected to the ministry of kerala in 2018 He is a strong supporter of Cooperative Movement in Kerala. [3] He came to the ministry He has previously held the responsibility of being the President of Perumatty Service Co-operative Bank,the Director of Palghat District Co-operative Bank and Kerala State Co-operative Bank. [2] He became a legislator in 6th,7th,9th and the 14th Kerala Legislative Assembly. [2] He became a Minister in Pinarayi Vijayan's Ministry,after replacing Mathew T. Thomas,the legislator from Thiruvalla constituency. [4]
He is the former Kerala State General Secretary of the Janata Dal (Secular). [5]
He was born to Kunjukutty and Janaki of Ezhuthani in Perumatty on 13 August 1944. [6] He completed 8th standard from Government S. M. High School,Tattamangalam. [6]
Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda is an Indian politician who served as the 11th prime minister of India from 1 June 1996 to 21 April 1997. He was previously the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. He presently is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha representing Karnataka. He is the national president of the Janata Dal (Secular) party. Born in a farming family,he joined the Indian National Congress party in 1953,and remained a member until 1962. He was imprisoned during the Emergency. He became President of the state unit of Janata Dal in 1994,and was considered to be a driving force in the party's victory in Karnataka. He served as the 8th Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1994 to 1996. In the 1996 general elections,no party won enough seats to form a government. When the United Front,a coalition of regional parties,formed the central government with the support of the Congress,Deve Gowda was unexpectedly chosen to head the government and was elected Prime Minister. During his tenure as prime minister,he also served as Home Minister for some time. His prime ministerial tenure lasted for less than a year. After his prime ministerial tenure,he was elected to the 12th (1998),14th (2004),15th,and 16th Lok Sabha,as Member of Parliament for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. He lost Lok Sabha elections in 2019 from Tumkuru but has been elected to Rajya Sabha since.
Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. Basangouda Ramangouda Patil Yatnal is an Indian Bharatiya Janata Party politician and Hindu leader who was the Minister of state for Textiles from 1 July 2002 to 8 September 2003 and Minister of state for Railways from 8 September 2003 to 16 May 2004 and current MLA from Bijapur City Assembly constituency since 2018. Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who is the current Chief Minister of Kerala,serving since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). He also served in the government of Kerala as Minister of Electric Power and Co-operatives from 1996 to 1998. Vijayan won a seat in the May 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election as the CPI(M) candidate for Dharmadom constituency and was selected as the leader of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and became the 12th Chief Minister of Kerala. He is the first chief minister from Kerala to be re-elected after completing a full term in office. In 2022,he also became the longest-continuous serving chief minister of Kerala surpassing C. Puthanpurayil Ramunni Kurup was an Indian socialist leader and former minister of Kerala state. Born as the son of Govindan Nambiar and Kunjunjamma at Puthur near Panoor in present-day Kerala state,he was initiated into politics through Indian National Congress in 1935. He got attracted to the ideals of the socialist faction later and worked closely with various socialist parties such as Praja Socialist Party,Samyukta Socialist Party,Janata Party and Janata Dal. In 1967,he became cooperative,irrigation,and Devaswam minister in the EMS ministry. In 1996,he became minister for forests and transport in the E. K. Nayanar ministry. He resigned on 11 January 1999 after age-related ailments. He died on 17 January 2001. He was married to (late) K. P. Leelavathi and had four sons and four daughters,including former Kerala state agricultural minister K. P. Mohanan.
First Pinarayi Vijayan ministry is the Council of Ministers headed by Pinarayi Vijayan that was formed after the Left Democratic Front (LDF) won the 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections. The Council assumed office on 25 May 2016. The ministry had a total of 19 ministers in the Cabinet at the time of swearing-in compared to 21 ministers in the previous government. Pinarayi Vijayan sworn in as 22nd Chief Minister of Kerala,12th person to hold this position.
