Ruby Precious Okezie (born 14 August 1997) [1] is a Nigerian actress, model, and casting director. She was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, and is originally from Abia State. A graduate of Banking and Finance from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, she serves as a casting director for Premium Models and is the co-founder of Safe Space Party, an entertainment venture established with her colleague Raymond Umenze. Okezie has appeared in several films and television series, including Merry Men 2 (2019), Agu (2023), Cheta'm (2024), A Green Fever (2023), and Industreet (2017) . Her breakthrough came in 2022 with her role as Nnenna in the Netflix Original series Far From Home (2022). [3]
Ruby Okezie was born on 14 August 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Okezie. Although she was born and raised in Lagos, she is originally from Abia State, Nigeria. She grew up in a Catholic household and completed her primary and secondary education in Lagos before earning a degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Port Harcourt. During her time at university, she began exploring opportunities in modeling, working as a freelance model and video vixen. [4]
During her younger years, Ruby Okezie was actively involved in extracurricular activities, including stage plays, dance, beauty pageants, and recitations. In high school, she served as the president of the Press Club, a role that further fueled her interest in the arts and shaped her passion for show business. [5]
As the youngest of seven siblings, Okezie often spent time alone, which allowed her creativity to flourish. She frequently engaged in imaginative play, creating characters, experimenting with costumes, and performing for herself. Her involvement in school activities such as drama, recitals, debates, and choreography further reinforced her love for the arts.
Despite her early interest in entertainment, her parents initially encouraged her to prioritize education and pursue a more traditional career path. However, Ruby eventually earned their support and successfully established herself in the entertainment industry, where she continues to advance her career. [6]
Ruby Okezie began her career in entertainment during her university years, starting as a freelance model and appearing as a video vixen in music videos for prominent Nigerian artists such as Mayorkun, Rudeboy, Zlatan and Ycee.
Her acting journey started in 2017, leading to roles in various films and television series, including productions featured on platforms like Showmax and Netflix. Okezie gained widespread recognition in 2022 for her role as Nnenna in the Netflix series Far From Home (2022) which marked a significant milestone in her acting career. [7]
Okezie's modeling career began while she was in college when she signed with a Lagos-based agency that provided opportunities to work across Nigeria. A notable moment in her modeling career came when she was selected for a Coca-Cola commercial, which was shot in South Africa and aired during the 2020 English Premier League games. This experience was pivotal, as it marked her first time traveling outside Nigeria and helped solidify her career in entertainment. [8]
Motivated to pursue acting further, Okezie attended numerous auditions and readings, securing her first film role in Lagos, which was broadcast on Africa Magic. In 2019, she gained additional exposure by appearing in several television series with SceneOne TV, further establishing her as an emerging actor in Nollywood.
Alongside her artistic pursuits, Okezie is also an entrepreneur. She co-founded Safe Space Party, an entertainment business, and serves as the casting director for Premium Models Talent Agency.
