The SME Aerospace Sdn Bhd (SMEA), is a Malaysian defence company in aerospace section that specialises in the manufacturing of aircraft and its parts. The company is located in Sungai Buloh, Selangor and it is a subsidiary company of National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd. [1] [2]

The company founded in 1992 through the offset program from the United Kingdom after the government of Malaysia agreed to purchase BAE Systems Hawk fighter aircraft. [3] In 1993, SME Aerospace moving forward in aerospace industry by acquired the design rights of MD-3 Swiss Trainer aircraft from the Dätwyler of Switzerland. This trainer aircraft manufactured locally and called SME Aero Tiga. SME Aerospace succeed in selling their trainer aircraft to the Royal Malaysian Air Force and Indonesian Civil Aviation Institute. [4]

SME Aerospace also part of global supplier of composites aero structures and aircraft parts for the Airbus including Airbus A320, Airbus A330, Airbus A350 XWB, Airbus A380 and components for Airbus Helicopters. [5]

In 2015, BAE Systems awarded SME Aerospace a contract to supply pylons for the BAE Hawk AJT aircraft. Under the contract, the company will manufacture and supply 16 inboard and 16 outboard pylons for the BAE System's export customers. [6]

The BAE Systems Hawk is a British single-engine, jet-powered advanced trainer aircraft. It was first flown at Dunsfold, Surrey, in 1974 as the Hawker Siddeley Hawk, and subsequently produced by its successor companies, British Aerospace and BAE Systems. It has been used in a training capacity and as a low-cost combat aircraft.

de Havilland Aircraft Pty Ltd (DHA) was part of de Havilland, then became a separate company. It acquired the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation in 1985 and was purchased by Boeing in 2000 and merged with the Boeing owned AeroSpace Technologies of Australia to become Hawker de Havilland Aerospace Pty Ltd. A four-engined jet, sometimes called a quadjet, is a jet aircraft powered by four engines. The presence of four engines offers increased power, allowing such aircraft to be used as airliners, freighters, and military aircraft. Many of the first purpose-built jet airliners had four engines, among which stands the De Havilland Comet, the world's first commercial jetliner. In the decades following their introduction, their use has gradually declined due to a variety of factors, including the approval of twin-engine jets to fly farther from diversion airports as reliability increased, and an increased emphasis on fuel efficiency.

Today's Airbus SE is the product of international consolidation in the European aerospace industry tracing back to the formation of the Airbus Industrie GIE consortium in 1970. In 2000, the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) NV was established. In addition to other subsidiaries pertaining to security and space activities, EADS owned 100% of the pre-existing Eurocopter SA, established in 1992, as well as 80% of Airbus Industrie GIE. In 2001, Airbus Industrie GIE was reorganised as Airbus SAS, a simplified joint-stock company. In 2006, EADS acquired the remaining 20% shares of Airbus Industrie GIE from BAE Systems. EADS NV was renamed Airbus Group NV and SE in 2014, and 2015, respectively. Due to the commercial aircraft division's prominence within Airbus SE with it representing the largest part of the corporation's activities, Airbus S.A.S was simply merged into the parent company in January 2017. Airbus SE itself therefore became the commercial aircraft division, while also being the parent company of the other two divisions Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters. The company was given its present name in April 2017.

Destini Berhad is a Malaysian company that is involved in heavy industry, defence and oil and gas. This company was formed in 1991 under the name of Satang Jaya Sdn Bhd. At the beginning, this company involved in the business as a supplier of aviation tools and spare parts from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to Malaysian government especially for Malaysian Armed Forces. The company first time entry into Bursa Malaysia in December 2005 and in September 2011, Satang Jaya Sdn Bhd changed its name to Destini Berhad as a part of company expansions. Destiny Berhad consist of four divisions which is System Enhancement Resources & Technologies (SERT) for land systems, Destini Aviation for aerospace, Destini Armada for marine and Destini Oil Services for oil and gas.
