Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. They are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo, who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif, who had previously held the role. According to a 2004 interview that aired during their appearance on ABC's Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band's name was taken from modern New York City vernacular.

New York" which can also be found as a bonus track on the UK release of Fever to Tell, and an exclusive remix of "Bang" from their debut EP, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (2001). The single peaked at number sixteen on the UK's official charts. The video, directed by Patrick Daughters, was, supposedly, shot at Bristol University Union's Anson Rooms on Saturday 1 March 2003 but also contains scenes shot at other venues during the same tour, including The Zodiac in Oxford. The song is also available as a downloadable track for the music video game series Rock Band. The song is also featured on the soundtrack for the British teen soap opera Skins and is used in an episode opening scene in the second season of Netflix's Daredevil.

Featuring a guest appearance from girl group TLC, the song includes additional vocals from Meleni Smith. It was produced by Cole, with co-production from Elite. Cole recruited TLC after coming up with the hook, going through a lengthy and strenuous recording process. After Cole previewed the song in October 2012, it was released for digital download in the United States by Roc Nation as the album's second single on June 4, 2013. Cool It Down is the fifth studio album by American indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs, released on September 30, 2022, through Secretly Canadian. It marks the group's first album since 2013's Mosquito and their first release through Secretly Canadian. The lead single "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" featuring Perfume Genius was released on June 1, 2022. The band began a world tour in support of the record from June 2022. Their fifth track, "Burning," was used as the opening theme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries Echo.
