The Museo Soumaya is a private museum in Mexico City and a non-profit cultural institution with two museum buildings in Mexico City - Plaza Carso and Plaza Loreto. It has over 66,000 works from 30 centuries of art including sculptures from Pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica, 19th- and 20th-century Mexican art and an extensive repertoire of works by European old masters and masters of modern western art such as Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dalí, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and Tintoretto. It is called one of the most complete collections of its kind.

Mauricio García Vega Mexican painter (born 1944)

Mauricio García Vega is a Mexican painter whose work has been recognized by various awards and membership in the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. His work is mostly focus on urban landscapes often with dark themes and a chaotic feel. He works alone and with his brother Antonio García Vega. He lives and works in the Mexico City suburb of Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl.

Coco chocolatero

The coco chocolatero was a cup used to serve small quantities of beverages between the 17th century and the 19th century in countries like Mexico, Guatemala and Venezuela. It was made of coconut shell, hence its name.

Eugenio Landesio (1810–1879) was an Italian painter and a pupil of the Hungarian landscape painter Károly Markó the Elder. Landesio’s career in Mexico was marked by his years at the Academy of San Carlos, where he exercised an influence on later exponents of Mexican landscape painting such as José María Velasco.

Girl with Cherry Tart is a painting by Mexican artist Ángel Zárraga in 1922. Both its brushstroke and geometric figures allows us to ascribe this canvas to the Cubism. This oil painting depicts a young lady looking at a cherry pie in an intimate scene. The dominant tones cover the scale of red. The lady is watching the cake with her eyes closed in a proper position.

Day and Night is a mural by Rufino Tamayo, executed in Vinylite on canvas and mounted on particleboard. As well as Still Life, it was originally produced for the perfumes and pharmacy section of the Sanborns store on Lafragua Street in Mexico City. Since 2011 it has been conserved in the lobby of the Museo Soumaya.

It was inspired by late 18th century Romantic works whilst Rodin was in exile in Brussels due to the Franco-Prussian War. He created it in homage to Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, another sculptor also in exile there who was highly influential on Rodin's early works.
