Sam Brittain (born May 10, 1992) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the American Hockey League (AHL). He most notably played as a prospect within the Florida Panthers organization of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Panthers in the 4th round (92nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Brittain played collegiate hockey for the Denver Pioneers in the NCAA Men's Division I National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). In his senior year, Brittain's outstanding play was rewarded with a selection to the inaugural 2013–14 All-NCHC First Team. [1]

At the conclusion of his entry-level contract with the Panthers, Brittain was not tendered a qualifying offer and was released to free agency. On August 21, 2017, Brittain signed a one-year AHL contract in a return to the San Antonio Rampage. [2]

Denver Pioneers Sports teams representing the University of Denver

The Denver Pioneers are the sports teams of the University of Denver (DU). They play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. Denver is a member of The Summit League for men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, men's and women's soccer, tennis and golf for both men and women, plus women's volleyball. Other DU teams play in various conferences in the sports that are not sponsored by The Summit. The Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Denver. The Pioneers are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play at Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado. The Pioneers are tied with North Dakota for second in all-time NCAA National Hockey Championships with eight trailing only Michigan with nine. Since the creation of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 1959, the Pioneers have won 9 WCHA Regular Season Championships and 14 WCHA Playoff Championships. About 75 Pioneers have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including Keith Magnuson, Kevin Dineen, Matt Carle, Paul Stastny and Will Butcher.

Joe Colborne Canadian ice hockey player

Joseph William Colborne is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. Colborne was a first round selection, 16th overall, of the Boston Bruins at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, but never played for the team. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2011 and spent parts of three seasons in the Toronto organization before joining the Calgary Flames in a 2013 trade. After three seasons with the Flames, Colborne signed as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche in the 2016 off-season. He played in the Avalanche organization for parts of two seasons before a concussion abruptly ended his career partway through the 2017–18 season.
