Samhällsnytt (Society News) or Samnytt [1] is a Swedish right-wing populist [2] [3] online news website founded in 2017. Oxford University's Internet Institute's Project on Computational Propaganda identified Samhällsnytt as one of the three primary "junk news" sources in Sweden, alongside Nyheter Idag and Fria Tider . [4] [5] [6]
The site and its predecessors is said to have made an impact due to their "relentless reporting on immigrant crime". [1] Samhällsnytt is the successor to the news website Avpixlat ("De-pixelated"), [1] [7] [8] also closely linked to Kent Ekeroth. [9] [10] Avpixlat was labeled a racist hate-site, xenophobic and right-wing extremist by Swedish and international media, [11] [12] while describing itself as "an independent Sweden-friendly website for news and opinions". [13] The site leaned close to the counter-jihad movement and supported Israel. [14] Avpixlat was itself the successor to the news site Politiskt Inkorrekt ("Politically Incorrect"), [1] [15] founded in 2008, [16] which also had close ties to Ekeroth [17] and the counter-jihad movement. [18]
Mona Ingeborg Sahlin is a Swedish politician who was leader of the opposition and leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party from 2007 to 2011.

HQ Bank was a Swedish finance and banking corporation founded by Sven Hagströmer and Mats Qviberg. It began operations in 2006. Due to unmanageable risk and losses its banking licence was revoked in 2010, the bank's crash caused the loss of several billion SEK and is one of the largest banking crashing in Sweden. Several board members were prosecuted for fraud but were acquitted.
Karl Fredrik Virtanen is a Sweden-Finnish journalist and former columnist for the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet and the host for the talk show Studio Virtanen on Swedish TV8. He has also hosted radio shows for Sveriges Radio. For Aftonbladet, he was the New York City correspondent, contributing weekly columns about life in the city. He also reported on entertainment, such as the Eurovision Song Contest.
Björn Olof Söder is a Swedish Sweden Democrats politician who served as Second Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag from September 2014 to September 2018. He has been a Member of the Riksdag (SD) for Stockholm County since October 2010. He previously served as Leader of the Sweden Democrats in the Riksdag from 2010 to 2014 and Secretary of the Sweden Democrats from 2005 to 2015.
Kent Alexander Ekeroth is a Swedish politician and economist, who represented the Sweden Democrats in the Riksdag from 2010 to 2018. Ekeroth has been involved with operating the news website Samhällsnytt and its predecessors since the beginning of his parliamentary term.
Jan Sten Otto Drakenberg is a Swedish business executive and board professional, as well as a former elite athlete in fencing and international ocean racing. He competed in the individual and team épée events at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Drakenberg is Chairman of the Board for Spendrups Brewery, CarpoNovum, Svegro, and the Swedish Fencing Federation; and is currently CEO for SMD Logistics. He has served as CEO of stockmarket-listed companies such as Scandi Standard.
Soran Ismail, is a Swedish Kurdish comedian, TV personality and author of Kurdish descent who as an immigrant grew up in Knivsta, Uppsala County and lived most of his life in Sweden. He is well known for his participation in several TV and radio shows with a humour profile and has toured Sweden together with Magnus Betnér with a show called En skam för Sverige. His various television projects include the documentary Absolut svensk where he examines ethnic identity and every day racism in Sweden. This is also the title of his book released in 2017.
Kajsa Ekis Ekman is a Swedish author, journalist, and debater. Her works have sparked debate in subjects regarding prostitution, surrogacy, transgender issues, and capitalism. She identifies as a feminist and has written a book and several articles from a gender-critical perspective,. She participated in the Swedish launch of Women's Declaration International. Until 2022 she wrote for Dagens ETC, departing amid controversy in 2022. Later in 2022 she was hired as editor of Arbetaren, but let go shortly afterwards, which generated extensive debate. Currently, she is the editor-in-chief of Parabol Press and contributes to a number of other Swedish publications. The awards she received include the Robespierre Prize in 2010 and Lenin Award in 2020.
The iron pipe scandal was a political scandal in Sweden involving individuals related to the Sweden Democrats. It occurred in 2010 but was only brought to mainstream public attention in 2012.
Ebba-Elisabeth Busch is a Swedish politician, serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden, Minister for Energy and the Minister for Business and Industry since October 2022. She has served as Leader of the Christian Democrats since April 2015.

He was previously the press secretary for the party, as well as leader for the party's youth organisation the Sweden Democratic Youth (SDU) between 2005 and 2007. He took over that position from Jimmie Åkesson and was succeeded by Erik Almqvist.
Nyheter Idag is a Swedish-language online newspaper. The magazine was founded in February 2014 by Chang Frick and Jakob Bergman, and they say their news reports focus on "politics, gossip, social media and foreign news". The publication describes itself as based on libertarian principles, and the employees have a background in different organizations. Expo grouped Nyheter Idag with "right-wing populist and far-right alternative media", but also stated that it was the news site most difficult to fit into that mold. It has been labelled a racist site by some pundits.
On 31 August 2017, policeman Ted Eriksson and his colleague patrolled the area around Medborgarplatsen and Björns trädgård in Stockholm in conjunction with a sit-in protest concerning deportation of Afghan migrants from Sweden. The perpetrator, who had previously taken part in the protest, unprovokedly stabbed Eriksson in the neck from behind, the seriousness of the attack didn't cause any fatal injuries despite the spinal cord was punctured and the vertebra was fractured.
The second cabinet of Stefan Löfven was the government of Sweden from 21 January 2019 to 9 July 2021. It was a coalition, consisting of two parties: the Social Democrats and the Green Party. The cabinet was installed on 21 January 2019, following the 2018 general election.
On 3 March 2021 at around 15:00 local time, a 22-year-old man stabbed seven people in Vetlanda, Sweden. All victims survived; the perpetrator was wounded by police during his arrest. He was convicted of seven counts of attempted murder as well as a minor narcotics offense and sentenced to life imprisonment in July 2021.
The murder of Tove Tönnies, on the night of 16 October 2022, became a highly publicized case in Sweden. The female suspects were arrested and later found guilty at trial at their first trial. The case became historic as both women became the first females under the age of 21 to be sentenced to life imprisonment. On appeal to the higher Court of Appeal Johanna Jansson received 16 years imprisonment, and Maja Hellman was released.
Fria Tider is a Swedish-language right-wing populist news site. Oxford University's Internet Institute's Project on Computational Propaganda identified "Fria Tider" as one of the three primary "junk news" sources in Sweden. Analysis by Swedish Defence University lists Fria Tider as having the highest proportion of disinformation among Swedish sources.
The top three "junk news" sources identified by the study - right-wing websites Samhallsnytt, Nyheter Idag and Fria Tider - accounted for more than 85 percent of the "junk news" content.
The most frequently shared junk news sites — Samhällsnytt, Nyheteridag, and Fria Tider — accounted for 86% of all junk news shares.

For instance, one writer for Samhallsnytt, who previously worked for the Sweden Democrats, was recently declined parliamentary press accreditation after the security police determined he had been in contact with Russian intelligence.
