The Negev or Negeb is a desert and semidesert region of southern Israel. The region's largest city and administrative capital is Beersheba, in the north. At its southern end is the Gulf of Aqaba and the resort city and port of Eilat. It contains several development towns, including Dimona, Arad and Mitzpe Ramon, as well as a number of small Bedouin towns, including Rahat and Tel Sheva and Lakiya. There are also several kibbutzim, including Revivim and Sde Boker; the latter became the home of Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, after his retirement from politics.

Netivot is a city in the Southern District of Israel located between Beersheba and Gaza. In 2019, it had a population of 37,542.

The site lies east of modern Beersheba and west of the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva. Tel Sheva has been preserved and made accessible to visitors in the Tel Be'er Sheva National Park.

The Turner Stadium, officially the Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium Be'er Sheva, is a football stadium in Be'er Sheva, Israel. It is the home ground of Hapoel Be'er Sheva. It was named after former Be'er Sheva mayor Yaakov Turner. The stadium also serves the Israel national football team for some home matches.
On 18 October 2015, a gunman shot and killed the 19-year-old Israeli soldier Omri Levy in a bus station in Beersheba. After killing the soldier, he took his automatic rifle and fired into a crowd. When more security officers appeared, the gunman fled, but was killed by security personnel.
The Pride House in Beersheba is a local LGBT organization in Beersheba, Israel, that works for the LGBT community in Beersheba and the Negev, promotes LGBT rights in Israel, Beersheba and the Negev in particular, and has various social activities for the local LGBT community. The organization has been active since 2000, as a local branch of the Israeli LGBT association, and in 2015 separated from the organization and established itself as a separate local organization.
Kan Educational is a public television channel in Israel designated for children, on behalf of the Israel Broadcasting Corporation. The channel launched on August 15, 2018 and replaced Israeli Educational Television, which preceded it. It now broadcasts existing IETV programs including older and newer programs, as well as providing new seasons to some of those programs, and also introduce new series along the way. All of its content will be bought from third parties, unlike IETV who produced many of their shows in-house.
Sami Shamoon College of Engineering is a college in Israel with campuses in Beersheba and Ashdod, focusing on STEM education. It was founded in 1995 in Beersheba and expanded into Ashdod in the 2000s. The college provides B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs and has over 6,500 students. The president since 2021 is Professor Semyon Levitsky.
Mini Book was a used bookstore in the Old City of Beersheba, Israel. The store sold fiction and nonfiction books in many languages, posters, and greeting cards. Mini Book served regular readers and economically disadvantaged families that saved money by buying and selling used study books. A 2006 price comparison by Maariv showed that Mini Book was affordable even within the second-hand book segment.
The 2022 Israel State Cup Final decided the winner of the 2021–22 Israel State Cup, the 86th season of the Israel State Cup. It was played on 24 May 2022 at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem, between Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Be'er Sheva. Hapoel Beer Sheva beat Maccabi Haifa 3–1 in the penalties, after 2–2 in the game.
Municipal elections took place in Israel on 3 November 1959, alongside elections to the fourth Knesset.
Avraham Numa is a retired footballer who played as a striker for Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the 1960s and 1970s. In the 1966–68 season, he was Israeli Footballer of the Year. He won two premier league championships with Hapoel in the 1970s.
Zvika Fogel is an Israeli politician, activist and former military officer who serves as a member of Knesset for Otzma Yehudit following the 2022 Israeli legislative election.
