Sandeep Chaudhary (born 10 April 1996) is an Indian track and field para-athlete from Rajasthan. He competes in javelin throw. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris. [1]

Background

Chaudhary is from Khetri, Rajasthan. He is supported by GoSports Foundation [1] [2] under the Para Champions Programme. He is coached by Vipin Kasana.

Career

Chaudhary represented India at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia where he won a gold medal and set a new world record of 60.01  m (196.9  ft ) with his third throw in the F42-44/61-64 category. [3] [4] The previous world record was set in 1980 by Chinese athlete Gao Mingjie. [5]

At World Para Athletics' 2021 Dubai Grand Prix, he won with a gold medal with 61.22 m (200.9 ft). [6] At the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, he won the gold medal with a world record throw of 66.18 m (217.1 ft). [7]

He has the unique record of winning a country's first ever Paralympic gold, silver and bronze medals as he is the only Pakistani to have won a medal in Paralympic history. In the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships, he became the first Pakistani Para athlete to win a medal at the World Para Athletics Championships, a silver.

Subedar Major Neeraj Chopra is an Indian track and field athlete. Considered as the greatest Indian javelin thrower, he's a double medalist at the Olympics, World Championships, and the Asian Games. He has won the Diamond League once. Chopra won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympics, becoming the first Asian javelin throw athlete to do so. He became the first Asian to win the javelin gold medal at the World Athletics Championships after his win in 2023. Chopra has won gold medals in every major tournament. He has a streak of having a podium finish in 24 consecutive competitions, dating back to 2020. Since his 2016 performance, he holds the junior javelin throw world record with 86.48 m.

Herath Mudiyansalage Dinesh Priyantha, also simply known as Dinesh Priyantha, is a Sri Lankan Paralympic track and field athlete who competes in javelin T46 events. He also served as an important member for the Sri Lanka Army during the Sri Lankan Civil War. He was disabled after being shot at his left arm during the final stages of the war. He is the defending Paralympic champion in men's javelin throw F46 category. On 30 August 2021, he became the first ever Sri Lankan to win a gold medal at the Paralympics when he won the men's javelin throw F46 category. K. Y. Venkatesh is an Indian para-athlete and shot putter from Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. He won his first gold for India in the shot put in 1999 in Australia. In 1994, he represented India at the 1st International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Berlin, Germany. He was awarded India's fourth highest civilian award the Padma Shri in 2021.

Sumit Antil is an Indian Paralympian and javelin thrower. He won the gold in the men's javelin throw F64 event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and the 2024 Paris Paralympics. He set a new Paralympic record both times with his throws of 68.55 m and 70.59 m respectively. He is a two-time gold medalist at the World Para Championships. In 2022, Antil not only won the gold medal at the Asian Para Games but also made the para-javelin WR of 73.29 m. He is a six-time world record holder.

Neeraj Yadav is an Indian Paralympian and javelin thrower. He primarily competes in discus,shotput and javelin at Asian Para Games in the F55 category. He won Gold at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia and defended it at the 2022 Asian Para Games.
