Santan (transl. child) is a 1999 Indian Bengali drama film directed by Anjan Choudhury. [1]
The film explores the relationship between three sons and their parents. After marriage, the three sons and their wives make the parents and the sister mere servants. Once, one of the children brought one of his colleagues to live in the room in which their parents stayed and asked the parents to sleep on the staircase in the house. The person realised this and was proud to think of their parents as his parents. He made a plan and told the three sons that his father possesses 1.5 lakh rupees and will give it to the child who takes the maximum care of their parents. By this trap, the children start to really love their parents. Ultimately, this person becomes successful in his attempt to reunite the parents with their three sons and their wives. [2]

Bandhan (transl. Bond) is a 2004 Indian Bengali language romantic-drama film co-written and directed by Rabi Kinnagi. Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, it stars Jeet, Koel Mallick and Victor Banerjee in the lead role. The film follows Ronny, an innocent child living with his father and growing up in foreign, often misses his dead mother Meena. After getting invited in India on the occasion of a marriage ceremony of his mother's cousin in India, he meets his maternal aunt Reena, who resembles his mother as they were the twins. Then Ronny thinks Reena to be his mother and wants his father to marry her.
The Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act (HAMA) was enacted in India in 1956 as part of the Hindu Code Bills. Saat Bhai Champa or Sat Bhai Chompa is a popular folk tale in the Bengal region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent. The story was first officially published by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder in the book Thakurmar Jhuli in 1907. The introduction to Thakurmar Jhuli was written by Nobel-Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.
