Sarah Crawford is an American politician and nonprofit executive. She has served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives,having represented the 66th district (including constituents in Wake County) since 2023. She previously served in the North Carolina Senate from 2021 to 2023,representing the 18th district (which includes parts of Franklin and Wake counties).
From 2011 to 2015,Crawford worked as Director of Development and Public Relations for the Tammy Lynn Center,a nonprofit organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She then served as national director for Single Stop,a national nonprofit that helps individuals achieve economic prosperity by connecting them to benefits and resources,before returning to the Tammy Lynn Center as its chief executive officer in 2020. Deborah Ross is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 2nd congressional district since 2021. Her district is based in Raleigh. A member of the Democratic Party,Ross served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013,representing the state's 38th and then 34th House district,including much of northern Raleigh and surrounding suburbs in Wake County.

The primary election was originally going to be held on March 8,2022,with a run-off in June 2022,however the North Carolina Supreme Court delayed the primary until May 17,2022,pending challenges over the State's districts and paused candidate filing. Prior to this pause,several candidates had already filed to run The elections will be held under new districts passed by the General Assembly in House Bill 976 to account for population changes following the 2020 census. The maps were later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court,who ordered the legislature to draw new maps. The North Carolina General Assembly later redrew the maps which were upheld by the Wake County Superior Court and the North Carolina Supreme Court. Candidate filing resumed on February 24,2022 and concluded on March 4,2022.
