Sarah Engels (born 15 October 1992), [1] known as Sarah Lombardi from 2013 to 2021, is a German pop singer and television personality. She is best known for participating in season 8 of Deutschland sucht den Superstar , where she was eliminated from the Top 10, [2] [3] only to return two shows later and eventually become the runner-up.

In 2020, she represented Italy at the Free European Song Contest 2020 with the song "Te Amo Mi Amor", finishing 13th out of 16.

Deutschland sucht den Superstar

Engels also participated in season 7 of Deutschland sucht den Superstar but was eliminated during the recall after her duet with Eugen Flittner. [1] In season 8, she was eliminated in the first Live Show. [4] Later on, she was asked to come back because RTL chief Tom Sänger (not the voters) had eliminated Nina Richel from the show, allegedly for health reasons. [5]

Pietro Lombardi's brother posted a semi-nude picture of Engels after she had used Pietro's mobile phone to talk to girls. [6] After hearing about what Sarah had done, Lombardi's brother Marco decided to take "revenge" by sharing this semi-nude picture of Engels. [6]

Engels is of Italian descent. [7] She married Pietro Lombardi in March 2013 and changed her name from Engels to Lombardi. [8] On 19 June 2015, their son Alessio was born. She announced their separation in October 2016. [9] In November 2020 she got engaged to the soccer player Julian Büscher. [10] The couple married in May 2021 and have had Sarah Engels' birth name as their family name ever since. On 2 December 2021 their daughter Solea was born. [11]

Part of the Idol franchise, it was created by British media mogul Simon Fuller as a spin-off from the British show Pop Idol, of which two series were broadcast between the years of 2001 and 2003. Debuting to mediocre ratings in November 2002 on the RTL network, the show has since become one of the most successful shows on German television.

The fourth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was aired on German channel RTL from February to May 2007. Mark Medlock, the season's winner, was awarded a contract with Sony BMG. The judges in this season were Dieter Bohlen, Heinz Henn, Anja Lukaseder. It was hosted by Marco Schreyl and Tooske Ragas. The viewers chose the contestant's fates as they were able to call for their favorite contestant. The voting results were published on 7 May. The winner got a 10-year contract and €100,000. Twenty percent went to the winner's manager who was chosen by the creators.

Heartbeat is the debut album by German singer Sarah Lombardi. It was released on 24 June 2011 through Universal Music Group, following her participation in the eighth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar. Chiefly produced by DSDS judge Dieter Bohlen, it reached number two on the German Albums Chart. The first single released from the album "Call My Name" was released on 7 May 2011, while the following second single "I Miss You" was issued on 17 June.

The ninth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast on German channel RTL from 7 January to 27 April 2012. Luca Hänni won the series. Jury members Fernanda Brandão and Patrick Nuo left DSDS and were replaced by Bruce Darnell and Cascada's Natalie Horler. As the winner, Luca Hänni received a recording contract with Universal Music Group and €500,000. Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and living in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The auditions stage had 34 audition events in 33 cities across Germany, Austria or Switzerland. 35,401 participants auditioned for season 9. Marco Schreyl will not be returning to host season 10.

The sixteenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar began on 5 January 2019 in RTL. Dieter Bohlen returned for his sixteenth series as a judge, while Oana Nechiti, Xavier Naidoo and Pietro Lombardi are the new judges. Oliver Geissen returned for his fifth series as host. The winner was the 20 years old Davin Herbrüggen.

The seventeenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar began on 4 January 2020 on RTL. As in the previous year, the jury consisted of Dieter Bohlen, Oana Nechiti, Xavier Naidoo and Pietro Lombardi; before the live shows began, Xavier Naidoo was excluded from the jury, his place took Florian Silbereisen. Alexander Klaws was the new host. The season ended on 4 April 2020 with Ramon Roselly as the winner, after having received 80.82% percent from the public.

The nineteenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar began on 22 January 2022 on RTL. The jury consisted of Florian Silbereisen, Ilse DeLange and Toby Gad. The contract with Dieter Bohlen as a juror was not extended by RTL and after 18 seasons Bohlen was not in the jury. Marco Schreyl became the new host.
