Satellite Shankar is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language action drama film written and directed by Irfan Kamal. The film starring Sooraj Pancholi and Megha Akash [5] is produced by Cine 1 Studios and SCIPL. The film based on the life of Indian soldiers, tells a story of the adventures of Indian soldier (played by Pancholi). The principal photography began on 6 September 2018, [6] and was shot across ten states in India. [7] [8]

Plot

Indian Army soldier Shankar gets injured in cross firing at the border. Senior Officer suggests him to take 8 days rest after consultation with doctors. Shankar requests for leave instead of rest, officers agree and tell him to report to duty on the morning of 8th day. While travelling, he helps citizens and ends up missing his train. Online news reporter covers his story without acknowledging him. The story later revolves around how he reaches his home and then back to duty in a short span of time.

Production

The film marks the return of Sooraj Pancholi who essays the role of an army officer after 3 years' hiatus as he previously starred in his debut 2015 action film Hero. [9] [10] The filming began on 3 September 2018 in Kashmir and most portions of the film were shot in North India in a 60-day schedule. The South Indian actress Megha Akash was cast as the female lead opposite Sooraj Pancholi, which marks her debut in Bollywood industry. [11] The film was shot across the 10 states of India. [8]

Release

The film was theatrically released on 8 November 2019. [1]

The filmmakers in February 2019 confirmed that the film will not have its theatrical release in Pakistan following the 2019 Pulwama attack on the Central Reserve Police Force in Jammu and Kashmir, which happened on 14 February 2019 resulting in the death of 40 CRPF personnel. [12] [13] [14]

Reception

Filmfare gave 3 stars out of 5 and said, "Satellite Shankar meanders off course a wee bit, is melodramatic and OTT at times but its heart certainly beats for Indian armed forces alright." [16]

Box office

Satellite Shankar's opening-day domestic collection was 10 lacs. On the second day, the film collected 12 lacs. On the third day, the film collected 10 lacs, taking the total opening-weekend collection to 32 lacs. The lifetime collection of film was 05.4 million. [4]

The 2019 Pulwama attack occurred on 14 February 2019, when a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethapora in the Pulwama district of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack killed 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel as well as the perpetrator—Adil Ahmad Dar—who was a local Kashmiri youth from the Pulwama district. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Islamist terrorist group, Jaish-e-Mohammed. India blamed neighbouring Pakistan for the attack, while the latter condemned the attack and denied having any connections to it. The attack dealt a severe blow to India–Pakistan relations, consequently resulting in the 2019 India–Pakistan military standoff. Subsequently, Indian investigations identified 19 accused. By August 2021, the main accused along with six others had been killed, and seven had been arrested.

Notebook is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Salman Khan under Salman Khan Films and Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde under Cine1 Studios. A remake of the 2014 Thai film The Teacher's Diary by Nithiwat Tharathorn, it stars debutantes Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl, daughter of actor Mohnish Bahl. Notebook tells the story of a young retired army officer who joins his father's school as a teacher to save it from closure, and falls in love with the previous teacher after reading through her memorabilia left behind in the drawers. The film was released on 29 March 2019 and received mixed response from critics with praises for leads performances.

Prakash Nambiar is a film director, producer, film writer, animator, entrepreneur and an author based in Mumbai. He's best known for the creation of two animated characters "Hum & Tum" for Yash Raj Films under his company Kathaa Animations. The characters were used in the critically acclaimed award-winning film of the same name Hum Tum (2004). Both characters are one of the most successful animated characters to be used in mainstream Bollywood film.

<i>Kabir Singh</i> (soundtrack) 2019 soundtrack album

Kabir Singh is the soundtrack to the 2019 film of the same name, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which is a remake of Vanga's own Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017), starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Released by T-Series on 7 June 2019, the album consisted nine songs composed by Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Vishal Mishra, Sachet–Parampara and Akhil Sachdeva with lyrics written by Mithoon, Irshad Kamil, Manoj Muntashir and Kumaar. Harshavardhan Rameshwar composed background music for the film.

Murad Khetani is Indian film producer who primarily works in Hindi films. He started off his career as co-producer in 2013 Hindi film Mickey Virus. He had his breakthrough with 2019 romantic drama film Kabir Singh which was a remake of 2017 Telugu film Arjun Reddy. Khetani is a recipient of IIFA Award.
