Say Goodnight to the World is a solo album by the American singer and songwriter Dax Riggs, released in 2010. [3] [4] [5]
The Austin Chronicle called the album "gritty punk-blues", writing that "[Riggs's] gothic-noir lullabies ... are carried by a voice that still conjures the ghost of Layne Staley." [6] Spin wrote that Say Goodnight to the World "plops Sun Studios into the middle of Transylvania, with Riggs as a pensive, late-night Elvis." [7] The Washington Post wrote that the album "may be [Riggs's] best ... a darkly psychedelic exorcism." [4]
The album was produced by Dax Riggs and Robbie Lee. Riggs is accompanied by the bass guitarist Kevin Fitzsimmons and drummer Charley Siess, who also toured in support of the album with lead guitarist Julian Primeaux.
"Heartbreak Hotel" is a song recorded by American singer Elvis Presley. It was released as a single on January 27, 1956, Presley's first on his new record label RCA Victor. It was written by Mae Boren Axton and Tommy Durden, with credit being given also to Presley. A newspaper article about the suicide of a lonely man who jumped from a hotel window inspired the song. Axton presented the song to Presley in November 1955 at a country music convention in Nashville. Presley recorded it on January 10, 1956, in a session with his band, the Blue Moon Boys, the guitarist Chet Atkins and the pianist Floyd Cramer. "Heartbreak Hotel" comprises an eight-bar blues progression, with heavy reverberation throughout the track, to imitate the character of Presley's Sun recordings.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida. Formed in 1976, the band originally comprised lead singer and rhythm guitarist Tom Petty, lead guitarist Mike Campbell, keyboardist Benmont Tench, drummer Stan Lynch and bassist Ron Blair. In 1982, Blair, weary of the touring lifestyle, departed the band. His replacement, Howie Epstein, stayed with the band for the next two decades. In 1991, Scott Thurston joined the band as a multi-instrumentalist—mostly on rhythm guitar and second keyboard. In 1994, Steve Ferrone replaced Lynch on drums. Blair returned to the Heartbreakers in 2002, the year before Epstein's death. The band had a long string of hit singles including "Breakdown", "American Girl", "Refugee", "The Waiting", "Learning to Fly", and "Mary Jane's Last Dance", among many others, that stretched over several decades of work.
Descendents are an American punk rock band formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California, by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson as a power-pop/surf punk band. In 1979, they enlisted Stevenson's school friend Milo Aukerman as a singer, and reappeared as a melodic hardcore punk band, becoming a major player in the hardcore scene developing in Los Angeles at the time. We Sing of Only Blood or Love is the debut solo album by American singer and songwriter Dax Riggs. It was slated to be the next Deadboy and the Elephantmen album before the band's dissolution. Riggs decided to release it under his own name on August 21, 2007. Matt Sweeney provided a combination of guitar, bass, piano, and backing vocals for all of the tracks, as well as producing the record.
Soulshock & Karlin is a Danish songwriting/production duo, consisting of Carsten Schack and Kenneth Karlin. They have produced many successful songs, including Monica's "Before You Walk Out of My Life", Whitney Houston's "Heartbreak Hotel", JoJo's "Leave ", and Toni Braxton's "I Love Me Some Him". In a reference to a famous commercial, in March 2001 Arena Magazine called the team "probably the best R&B producers in the world".
My Farewell to Elvis is the twenty-seventh studio album by American country music singer Merle Haggard, released in 1977 and his second release for MCA Records. It reached Number 6 on the Country album chart. The single "From Graceland to the Promised Land" reached number 4 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. The album is a tribute to the music of Elvis Presley, who died on August 16, 1977. He is backed by Roy Nichols, Ronnie Reno, and Mark Yeary of the Strangers.
