Scott Williams (born 10 October 1990) is a Welsh international rugby union player who currently plays for the Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship. [1]
Born in Carmarthen, Williams attended Coleg Sir Gar, [2] and is a fluent Welsh speaker. [3]
Williams played for Whitland RFC before joining Llanelli RFC. In 2009, Williams joined the Scarlets.
In 2018, Williams signed for the Ospreys. [4] Williams dealt with numerous injuries over the following years, including a bulging disc. [5]
Williams rejoined the Scarlets in 2021. [6] He extended his contract in 2022. [7]
Williams was named man of the match against his former club the Ospreys, as the Scarlets won 22–19 on the 2022 New Years derby. [8]
Williams has represented Wales U16, U18 and U20.
It was announced on 9 May 2011 that Williams, along with 8 other Scarlets players, was in the Wales senior team against the Barbarians on 4 June 2011. [9] He made his full international debut as a second-half replacement.
Williams was then named in Wales' provisional 45 man provisional World Cup squad, completing training camps in Spala, Poland. After impressive performances off the bench against England at Twickenham and the Millennium Stadium, Williams was chosen as one of four centres in the final 30 man squad for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
Williams scored a hat trick against Namibia, as Wales set their highest ever World Cup score, winning 81–7. [10] By the end of the tournament, Williams scored four tries in total, with Wales finishing fourth.
Williams replaced the injured Jamie Roberts at half-time at Twickenham on 25 February 2012 in Wales' third Six Nations victory against England. He scored a solo try from the half-way line, having ripped the ball from England forward Courtney Lawes. This try proved pivotal in Wales' victory and them winning the Grand Slam. [11]
A shoulder injury in the second week of the 2014 Six Nations prevented Williams from taking any further part of the tournament. [12]
On 8 August 2015, Williams captained Wales for the first time, in the World Cup warmup test against Ireland. [13] He was selected in then final squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. [14]
Throughout 2017, Williams established himself as first choice inside centre for Wales, ousting Jamie Roberts. Williams started all Six Nations tests, and three of the autumn internationals, scoring against both New Zealand and South Africa. He continued this into 2018, starting four of the Six Nations tests, and starting both matches against Argentina as Wales toured North and South America. [15]
Injuries prevented Williams from taking part in either the 2018 Autumn internationals and 2019 Six Nations. [16]
In 2021, Williams was briefly recalled to the Welsh squad, after Willis Halaholo tested positive for coronavirus. Upon Halaholo's recovery, Williams was released back to the Scarlets and did not feature for Wales. [17]

The Scarlets are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. The club was originally named the Llanelli Scarlets but was renamed at the start of the 2008–09 rugby season.
Stephen Michael Jones is a Welsh rugby union coach and former player who played primarily at fly-half. He played more than 100 times for Wales and six times for the British & Irish Lions.
John Davies is a former Welsh rugby union prop. He spent much of his professional career playing for Llanelli RFC, and subsequently the Llanelli Scarlets regional side, where he now works as an academy coach. Davies also made 34 appearances for the Wales national team, scoring two tries.
Adam Mathias Jones is a Welsh former professional rugby union player who played as a lock. He captained the Wales Under-19 team and earned his first caps for the Wales senior team as a replacement against England and Scotland in the 2006 Six Nations Championship. He began his career with Swansea RFC before a spell in England with Saracens and Harlequins, before returning to Wales with Cardiff RFC. At the start of the Welsh regional era, he signed for the Llanelli Scarlets and played for them for four seasons, before a seven-year spell with the Newport Gwent Dragons. He also made appearances for Llandovery RFC, Carmarthen Quins RFC, Cross Keys RFC and Newport RFC.
Kenneth James Owens is a former Welsh rugby union player who played as a hooker for the Scarlets and Wales. He made his debut for the Scarlets in 2006, taking over from Matthew Rees as their first-choice hooker upon Rees' departure for the Cardiff Blues in 2013. He also served as backup to Rees, among others, for Wales following his debut against Namibia at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. In 2016, he took over as Wales' first-choice hooker, and in January 2023, following almost a year out with a back injury, he was named as captain for the 2023 Six Nations Championship.
Whitland RFC are a Welsh rugby union club based in Whitland, West Wales. They are the presently members of the Welsh Rugby Union playing in Division One West and is a feeder club for the Llanelli Scarlets.
Joshua Turnbull is a Welsh former professional rugby union player, who played in the back row and second row. He played for the Scarlets and Cardiff Rugby in the United Rugby Championship, and at club level for Carmarthen Quins, Llanelli and Llandovery. He played internationally for Wales at under-16, under-18, under-19 and under-20 levels, Wales 7s and earned 13 caps for the senior team between 2011 and 2022. Born in Haverfordwest, he is a fluent Welsh speaker.
Robert McCusker is a Welsh former rugby union player, who played across the back row. McCusker began his career with the Scarlets, and also played for London Irish and the Ospreys before retiring. McCusker also played internationally for Wales.
Samson Lee is a former Wales international rugby union player. Lee played for the Scarlets, as well as local teams Llanelli and Ammanford. His position is prop forward. Lee has represented Wales, making his debut against Argentina in November 2013.
Steven Shingler is a professional rugby union player for Ealing Trailfinders in the RFU Championship. His favoured position is Fly-half but he also plays centre and full-back. His older brother Aaron Shingler is a Wales international rugby union player.
Jordan Rhys Williams is a Welsh rugby union footballer who plays for the Dragons. His regular position is at full-back, but he has also played at fly-half and on the wing. He began his career with amateur side New Dock Stars RFC, before being signed by Llanelli RFC and ultimately breaking into the Scarlets regional side. However, he struggled to find playing time with the Scarlets and moved to Bristol in 2016, only to return to Wales with the Dragons two years later. He has also played internationally for Wales at under-16, under-18 and under-20 level, as well as for the Wales Sevens team.
Cory Allen is a retired Welsh international rugby union player. A centre or wing, he played for Cardiff Blues and the Ospreys. Allen joined the Dragons in 2021, but did not feature for the side.
Alex Jeffries is a Welsh former professional rugby union player who played as a prop. He retired from rugby due to a neck injury in April 2023.
