The secretary of social welfare and development (Filipino: Kalihim ng Kagalingang Panlipunan at Pagpapaunlad) is the head of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and is a member of the president's Cabinet. [1]

The Cabinet of the United States is a body consisting of the vice president of the United States and the heads of federal executive departments of the executive branch of the federal government of the United States which is regarded as the principal advisory body to the President of the United States. Adoption in the Philippines

Adoption in the Philippines is a process of granting social, emotional and legal family and kinship membership to an individual from the Philippines, usually a child. It involves a transfer of parental rights and obligations and provides family membership. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) defines adoption as a "socio-legal process of giving a permanent family to a child whose parents have voluntarily or involuntarily given up their parental rights."

Cabinet Secretariat of the Philippines

The Cabinet Secretariat, formerly the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, is a member agency of the Cabinet of the Philippines which provides support to the President, facilitates the exchange of information, as well as discussing and resolving issues among Cabinet members. She was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to replace Corazon Soliman in the secretaryship. She served in an ad interim basis from June 30, 2016 until August 16, 2017, the rejection of her appointment by the Commission on Appointments. She is a former professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman and was one of those nominated by the National Democratic Front to the Duterte Cabinet.

2018 Boracay closure and redevelopment

On April 26, 2018, the Philippine resort island of Boracay, one of the country's major tourist destinations, was temporarily closed to the general public as part of the government's efforts to rehabilitate and redevelop the island. As part of the closure, Boracay was closed for six months except to its registered residents and employees.

Rolando Joselito Delizo Bautista is a retired Filipino lieutenant general and the incumbent Secretary of Social Welfare and Development. He held various positions in the military, such as the former Commanding General of the Philippine Army, commander of the Joint Task Force Marawi during the Battle of Marawi, and the Presidential Security Group.
