The Senegal FA Cup is the top knock-out tournament in Senegalese football. It was created in 1961. [1] The current champion is Niarry-Tally who won their only title in 2016 and compete in League 1 of the Senegalese football pyramid. ASC Diaraf have won the most cup titles (16), most recently in 2023. Since 1977, the winner competes in the Senegalese Super Cup (formerly the Assemblée Nationale Cup), the super cup of Senegalese football against the national league champion. If the national league champion also wins the FA cup then the second place club in league 1 competes. The winner of the FA cup qualifies for the continental CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2002-03 Division 1 season was the 38th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 9 November 2002 and finished on 29 June 2003. ASC Jeanne d'Arc won the tenth title and the next club to win two in a row, thus made the club to win the most number of national championship titles until the following season when Diaraf would share it once more with ten in the following season.

The 2003-04 Division 1 season was the 39th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on 13 December 2003 and finished on 9 October 2004. ASC Diaraf won the tenth title, the next club in Senegal to win the tenth title after ASC Jeanne d'Arc last season. The total number of national championship titles would remain tied with ten until Diaraf retook the totals as they won their eleventh and recent in the 2010 season. Diaraf along with AS Douanes would compete in the 2005 CAF Champions League the following season. ASC Linguère won their first and only title, the next club to win three consecutive titles, and a year later would compete in the 2010 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup. Since that season, only one club each would qualify into the continental championship or cup, the winner of each. The 2014-15 Ligue 1 season was the 52nd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the seventh professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 6 December and finished later on 26 July. It was the seventh season labelled as a "League". AS Douanes won their sixth and recent title and qualified into the 2016 CAF Champions League. Génération Foot, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup qualified for the first time in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

The 2009 Senegalese League Cup (Coupe de la Ligue) was the first ever edition of the League Cup challenge. The format is like a playoff system and features clubs from the country's top two leagues (Ligue 1 and 2). AS Douanes won the first title. Five rounds were featured and 30 clubs competed. The winner competes into the Assemblée Nationale Cup or the National Assembly Cup, the super cup competition in Senegal.
