Daniel Paul Johns is an Australian musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the frontman, guitarist, and main songwriter of the rock band Silverchair. Johns is also one half of The Dissociatives with Paul Mac and one half of Dreams with Luke Steele. On March 13, 2015 Johns released his first solo EP Aerial Love and on March 22, 2015, he released his first solo LP Talk in 2015. Johns' second solo album FutureNever was released on 22 April 2022.

Diorama is the fourth studio album by Australian alternative rock band Silverchair, released on 31 March 2002 by Atlantic/Eleven. It won the 2002 ARIA Music Award for Best Group and Best Rock Album. The album was co-produced by Daniel Johns and David Bottrill. While Bottrill had worked on albums for a variety of other bands, Diorama marked the first production credit for lead singer Johns.

"Israel's Son" is a song by Australian rock band Silverchair, released on 12 April 1995 as the third single from their debut album, Frogstomp (1995). It was included on Silverchair's The Best Of: Volume 1 compilation album, released on 13 November 2000. A live video recording of "Israel's Son" at the Sydney Royal Easter Show was included on the bonus DVD with the Frogstomp: 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition remaster, released on 27 March 2015.
"Across the Night" was the fourth and final single released by rock band Silverchair from their fourth album, Diorama. It is the first track on Diorama, and is a major departure from their previous, grungy sound which was featured on Frogstomp, which was released in 1995. This more progressive type of songwriting is also present on Silverchair's final album, Young Modern. A video was created for the song in the style of early 1920s cinema, featuring acclaimed Australian actor Guy Pearce.

In the United States, Sony chose "Abuse Me" as the first single from Freak Show despite protests by the band's manager. Big winners for the year were Silverchair with five awards and Tina Arena with four, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year – both first time they were won by a female.
