Sharon S. Steckman (born 1947 in Chicago,Illinois) is a member of the Iowa House of Representatives,representing the 59th District since 2008. She has a B.S. degree in education from Iowa State University and a M.S. degree,also in education,from Morningside College. [1]
As of October 2011 [update] ,Steckman is a member of several committees in the Iowa House –Ranking Chair of Education,State Government,Environmental Protection,and Education Appropriations committees. She is also the ranking member of the Education Committee and a member of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact. In October 2009,she was elected Assistant House Majority Leader, [2] becoming Assistant House Minority Leader when the Democrats lost their majority in 2011. [3] [4]

The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly,the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives,representing 100 single-member districts across the state,formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 as of the 2010 United States Census. The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines.
Roger F. Wendt was a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives,representing the 2nd District from 2003 until 2011,though he stepped down from the Iowa House in February 2010 due to serious illness. He died on March 30,2011,from lung cancer.

Dawn E. Pettengill is an American retired politician from Iowa. She was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2005 to 2019,where she represented the 75th District. On April 30,2007,she switched to the Republican Party,having previously served in the House as a Democrat. In a letter to her constituents,Pettengill said she decided to switch parties due to disagreements with fiscal and labor policy,as well as the state Democratic Party's decision to take her off the incumbent protection list for the 2008 elections.
