Shehu Abdul Rahman is a Nigerian professor of Agricultural Economics. He was the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Gashua and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) (Admin.), Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He is currently the vice - chancellor of Federal University Lafia. [1] [2] [3]
Shehu Abdul was born in Umaisha, a town in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State in the Kingdom of Opanda on the 7th April, 1968. In 1975, he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from Anglican Transferred Primary School, Umaisha. He obtained his GCE O' Level from Ahmadiyya College, Umaisha. He earned his Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1993, M.Sc. Agric. Economics in 1998 and a Ph.D. in Agric. Economics in 2001 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. [1] [4]
He started his academic career as an assistant Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1994. He was promoted to Lecturer II in 1998. He later moved to Nasarawa State University, Keffi where he became Senior Lecturer in 2003. Associate Professor in 2005 and a professor in 2008 and he eventually moved to Federal University of Lafia as a professor in 2019. [1] [4]
He was the Head of Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2006 to 2009. He became the Deputy Dean of Faculty of Agriculture of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Shabu-Lafia Campus from 2006 to 2007. He was appointed as the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2007 to 2011. He became the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2012 to 2013. From 2013 - 2016, he was the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Gashua. He became the Director of Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS) of Federal University of Lafia in 2019. In 2020, he was the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture of Federal University of Lafia. In 2020, he was made the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia. [4] [1] [5] [2]
Shehu Abdul is interested in carrying out research in gender issues in agriculture, application of econometric models, agricultural technology economiscs, production economics of crops and livestock and farm management Economics. [1] [4]

Nasarawa is a state in the North Central region of Nigeria, bordered to the east by the states of Taraba and Plateau, to the north by Kaduna State, to the south by the states of Benue and Kogi, and to the west by the Federal Capital Territory. Named for the historic Nasarawa Emirate, the state was formed from the west of Plateau State on 1 October 1996. The state has thirteen local government areas and its capital is Lafia, located in the east of the state, while a key economic centre of the state is the Karu Urban Area—suburbs of Abuja—along the western border with the FCT.

The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State in Northeast Nigeria. The university was created by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975, with the intention of its becoming one of the country's principal higher-education institutions. It enrolls about 25,000 students in its combined programs, which include a college of medicine and faculties of agriculture, arts, environmental science, Allied health science, Basic medical science, dentistry, education, engineering, law, management science, pharmacy, science, social science, and veterinary medicine. New Karshi is a town in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria, founded in the 1980s by Muhammadu Bako II. It is a semi-autonomous local government created out of Karu LGA as Karshi Development area with the administrative secretariat in Uke. Karshi has a local government chairman as its administrative head and a seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Emir of Karshi Emirate, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Sani Bako III, a first class chief is the traditional head of New Karshi. It has a population of about 30,000 people. The predominant tribes are Gwandara, Gbagyi, Gade, Bassa and Hausa.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Nasarawa State was held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
