Federal University Gashua (FUGashua) is a university based in Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria. [1] [2] It is a learning and research institution that seeks to solve the immediate needs of society and give every person the opportunity to acquire knowledge.
The university was established in 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan. [3] This was done to give every state of Nigeria (those without a federal university) access to higher education and to give all states equal access to education. Yobe State is listed as one of the educationally disadvantaged with low enrollment in schools and a high rate of illiteracy.
In its Education Sector reform and development, the Federal Government of Nigeria, in 2010, approved the establishment of twelve (12) universities in the six geopolitical zones of the country. This was to expand access to tertiary education for Nigerians. For effective take off of the universities, an Implementation Committee which includes the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and other relevant stakeholders was constituted. The Committee held consultations with governors of the states for the new universities and inspected the proposed sites before submitting its report on 15 November 2010. The implementation of the committee's report was in phases. The implementation of the first phase started with the establishment of nine Universities, in February 2011. The implementation of the second phase involved the establishment of three Universities including the FUGashua in February 2013. On 18 February 2013, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahaman was appointed Vice-Chancellor, and Sulu Dauda, Registrar (pioneers). In June 2015, FUGashua matriculated its 240 pioneer students. [4] Three years after the maiden matriculation, the student population grew significantly, and in February 2018, 990 students were matriculated. [5]

Dr. Mohammed Attai Yakubu and Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Jajere, respectively, serve as the Deputy Vice-Chancellors for Academics and Administration. [6]
It is an academic library that was established in 2013 to support teaching, learning and research to meet the mission and objectives of the university. [11] The library has information resources that support the courses offered which is headed by a University librarian. The present university librarian is Dr. Adam Gambo Saleh. [12]

Gombe State is a state in northeastern Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by the states of Borno for 93 km in the vicinity of Gongola River and Lake Dadin Kowa and Yobe in the vicinity of Gongola River for 140 km, to the south by Taraba State for 58 km, to the southeast by Adamawa State for 95 km, and to the west by Bauchi State for 277 km. Gombe is the state capital of Gombe state and it was formed from a part of Bauchi State on 1 October 1996. Of the 36 states in Nigeria, Gombe is the 21st largest in area and the 32nd most populous, with an estimated population of about 3.25 million as of 2016. The state bears a slogan "Jewel in the Savannah".
Yobe is a state located in northeastern Nigeria. A mainly agricultural state, it was created on 27 August 1991. Yobe State was carved out of Borno State. The capital of Yobe State is Damaturu, and its largest city by population is Potiskum. While by the largest by land area is Fune, Potiskum Local Government Area is a place of Farmers and marketers, the largest cattle market in Africa is located in Potiskum.
The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is a university in Nigeria that was founded as Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH) on 30 July 1980, by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Dr Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo. The creation of Enugu State out of Anambra State in 1991 by the then Military President General Ibrahim Gbadamasi Babangida, transformed ASUTECH into Enugu State University of Science and Technology.
Prince Abubakar Audu University,(Formerly Kogi State University) located at Anyigba, is a state-owned university of Kogi, Nigeria. It was established in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu, the former governor of the state.
