The Federal University Otuoke [1] is a Federal Government-owned University sited in Otuoke, a town in Ogbia local government area [2] of Bayelsa State, [3] Southern Nigeria. [4] [5] The university is one of the nine new Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria [6] [7] in February 2011 under the administration of president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. [8] [9] Federal University Otuoke is sited in the heart of the oil-rich [10] Niger-Delta Region of Bayelsa State. [11] The university was established in 2011 and started with 282 pioneer students. [12] The university has six (6) faculties and offers degree courses at undergraduate levels. [13] and Post Graduate Levels - offering Post Graduate Diploma, Masters, and Doctorate Degrees.

The undergraduate courses are in the Faculties of Science, Management Science, [14] Social Science and Humanities, [15] Education, Engineering and Technology. The university is a Partner of Sustainable Public Procurement. [16] In November 2020, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias was appointed Vice Chancellor of the university [17]

The University Library Archived 2023-09-25 at the Wayback Machine headed by Professor Felicia Edu-uwem Etim, the University Librarian, is made up of a Central Library, E-Library (Bruce Powell E-Library), Post-Graduate School Library, and Faculty Libraries spread across the six Faculties.

Expulsion of students involved in examination malpractice

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, FUOTUOKE expelled 12 students who were involved in cultism and examination malpractice. At the time of the expulsion, five of the students were 200 level while the other seven students were in 300 level. [20] [21] [22] Also, on the 6th of December 2019, twenty nine students were expelled for their alleged involvement in cultism and examination malpractices. [23]

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, also called UNIZIK or NAU in short is a federal university in Nigeria. It consists of two campuses in Anambra State. Its main campus is in Awka, while its other campus is in Nnewi. There are also other campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. These include Agulu in Aniocha local government area and Ifite-Ogwuari in Ayamelum local government area in Anambra State. Sagbama is a Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, Southern part of Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Sagbama. Part of the area of the LGA lies within the Bayelsa National Forest.

Brass is a Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, southern Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Twon-Brass on Brass Island along the coast, it has a coastline of approximately 90 km on the Bight of Bonny. Much of the area of the LGA is occupied by the Edumanom National Forest.

University of Ilorin, also known as Unilorin, is a federal government-owned university in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. It was established by a decree of the federal military government in August, 1975. The establishment aimed to implement one of the educational directives of the Third National Development Plan, which was aimed at providing more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to acquire university education and to generate high-level manpower, which is vital for the rapidly expanding economy. Southern Ijaw is a Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Southern part of Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Oporoma in the north of the area at 4°48′17″N6°04′44″E. The area has a coastline of approximately 60 km on the Bight of Benin.

Ogbia is a traditional Kingdom and Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. The headquarters of both the Traditional Kingdom and Local Government is located in Ogbia Town at 4°39′00″N6°16′00″E.

Adamawa State Polytechnic is a tertiary educational institution in Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. It was established in 1991 through a merger of the College of Preliminary Studies Yola and the Staff Development Institute, Numan. The new polytechnic provides national diploma programs in computer science, statistics, accountancy, business studies and secretarial studies. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Edumanom Forest Reserve</span> Forest reserve in Bayelsa State, Nigeria

The roots of Edumanom Forest Reserve trace back to 1970 when it was singled out as one of the proposed Forest Reserves by the Rivers State Government, a compilation encompassing 11 distinct regions. At that time, the Governor of Rivers State, acting under the authority vested by Section 28 of the Land Use Act, rescinded all prevailing Rights of Occupancy associated with the land enveloping Edumanom Forest Reserve. Subsequently, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, sanctioned by Section 8 of the Forestry Law Cap 55 of the Laws of Eastern Nigeria, 1963, officially labeled the region as a forest reserve. The forest reserve derives its name from the Edumanom family in Otuabagi, the entity possessing the largest segment of the reserve.

Niger Delta University (NDU) is in Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State in the southern part of Nigeria. It was established in 2000. It is a Bayelsa state government-funded university. In 2002, It was established by Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, then governor of Bayelsa state. It has two main campuses, one in the state capital, Yenagoa, which contains the law faculty, and the other in Amassoma. It also has its teaching hospital known as Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) in Okolobiri.

University of Cross River State also known as UNICROSS is a state-owned tertiary institution with four campuses spread across four Local Government Areas of the state. The University was formerly known as the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). It was renamed in February of 2021 by a bill passed at Cross River State House of Assembly which was then approved by the former Governor of the State, Benedict Ayade. The change of the tertiary institution's name was to enable the varsity function as a conventional University, which provides the opportunity to offer more professional courses rather focusing on tech-related courses. The present Vice Chancellor of the institution is Prof Augustine Angba.

Seth Accra Jaja is a Professor of Management Science and a distinguished Nigerian academic. He was appointed as the 2nd vice-chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2016 succeeding Bolaji Aluko.

Suleiman Hussein Adamu is a Nigerian Engineer and the Minister, Nigerian Federal Ministry of Water Resources. He commissioned the Ogbia Regional Water Project in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. He was appointed the Minister of Water Resources by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.
